finally got GTA 4 to get ready for GTA 5, but the controls are aweful. they are unresponsive like Killzone 2 and the driving especially is unplayable, almost. any configs to make it better (PS3)? Standard or Classic?

Yeah, with a controller they are,I tried the 360 controller on the PC version and it was extremely stiff,KB/M however is great(for the shooting).

kb/m is great for the shooting but because of how they made the animation system it stinks for basic movement.

Same here, love the physics. Don't get the Killzone comparison.

Yes they are sluggish, driving was fine though (not unresponsive, just very slippery cars)

yeah when you spend a week playing the game trying to get the rolled over achievement on the airport you tend to become really good at driving.

The game controls fine for me, like a more weighty Uncharted with weighty vehicles. I mean, you wouldn't be moving like a ninja when packing a heavy shotgun and bulky coat would you? And I'd like to see you make a tight 90 degree turn with a two ton vehicle on a New York street at 90mph without any drifting.

Other then the sticky cover system, the game controls just fine for me.

Nope not at all played it 20 hours with a 360 controller on the pc with the auto aim crap turned off and its was obviously alot slower because of of using a gamepad but the controls where responsive. Its not in anyway shape or form like killzone 2 massive input lag the driving also controlled fine for me. Also because of playing on the pc my Framerate was alot higher then console especially the ps3 which has alot of dips below 30its quite sad so its more responsive because of it.

Once you get used to them, you'll be able to drive and play well.I've gotten quite a bit better since I first started playing.

It's not input lag, but you have to wait for animations to complete, they don't cut off or blend, which makes it feel sluggish, especially behind cover when going in and out of aiming.

The cars aren't bad, but the shooting is awful on pc. I mean it's still much better than a controller, but there's definitely mouse acceleration going on and it completely throws off my aim. If there's an option for it, I must've never noticed it.

No they aren't. There are no controls as bas as Killzone 2. The game might as well not even have controls and be a bad grey muddy movie.

I'm wondering why this game got a 10 if its controls aren't that great. Guess McShea didn't work for GS at the time.

I thought the driving was great, but the shooting/on foot movement were awful. So, the controls were bad, which KZ2's weren't.

It can take some time to get the feel of it... I switched to classic controls and don't have too many complains about the controls. It's not your arcade-styled-kill-100-people-in-5-minutes type of game. It's different, and in some ways I liked it, and others not so much. Still thought it was an excellent game overall. San Andreas remains my favorite GTA though.

The controls for GTAIV are worse than the enemies. When ever I died playing it it was because of the controls.

Yeah OP... they're pretty unresponsive and clunky. The framerate is godawful, too. I didn't know how terrible they were at first because it was the first game I owned this gen. When I went back to it after so long I realised just how terrible they were.

I thought it controlled just fine... A little bit tanky, but thats mainly because of the realistic way Niko moves.

GTA IV was too realstic for my tastes didn't like the controls, but the shooting was good.
