finally got GTA 4 to get ready for GTA 5, but the controls are aweful. they are unresponsive like Killzone 2 and the driving especially is unplayable, almost. any configs to make it better (PS3)? Standard or Classic?

Yeah, with a controller they are,I tried the 360 controller on the PC version and it was extremely stiff,KB/M however is great(for the shooting).Arach666kb/m is great for the shooting but because of how they made the animation system it stinks for basic movement.
after so many hours I dont notice any problems i've become really good at driving and shooting.
Same here, love the physics. Don't get the Killzone comparison. yeah when you spend a week playing the game trying to get the rolled over achievement on the airport you tend to become really good at driving. The game controls fine for me, like a more weighty Uncharted with weighty vehicles. I mean, you wouldn't be moving like a ninja when packing a heavy shotgun and bulky coat would you? And I'd like to see you make a tight 90 degree turn with a two ton vehicle on a New York street at 90mph without any drifting.
Other then the sticky cover system, the game controls just fine for me.
Once you get used to them, you'll be able to drive and play well.I've gotten quite a bit better since I first started playing.
Nope not at all played it 20 hours with a 360 controller on the pc with the auto aim crap turned off and its was obviously alot slower because of of using a gamepad but the controls where responsive. Its not in anyway shape or form like killzone 2 massive input lag the driving also controlled fine for me. Also because of playing on the pc my Framerate was alot higher then console especially the ps3 which has alot of dips below 30its quite sad so its more responsive because of it.DJ_HeadshotIt's not input lag, but you have to wait for animations to complete, they don't cut off or blend, which makes it feel sluggish, especially behind cover when going in and out of aiming.
No they aren't. There are no controls as bas as Killzone 2. The game might as well not even have controls and be a bad grey muddy movie.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]I'm wondering why this game got a 10 if its controls aren't that great. Guess McShea didn't work for GS at the time.[/QUOTE
Sure it would have. It got guns and hoes and blood. Thats all McShae wants. He not a real reviewer after all.

The controls were broken when the game came out.... and it got a friggin 10/10.... unbelievable right?finally got GTA 4 to get ready for GTA 5, but the controls are aweful. they are unresponsive like Killzone 2 and the driving especially is unplayable, almost. any configs to make it better (PS3)? killu-later
The controls for GTAIV are worse than the enemies. When ever I died playing it it was because of the controls.

tomarlyn
Same here.
I thought it controlled just fine... A little bit tanky, but thats mainly because of the realistic way Niko moves.
