Firefall > WoW

I don't care what anyone says here is your Wow killer. It's combining the addiction of leveling and partying up that you get with MMOs and the fun gameplay you get with shooters. I know I loved the idea of WoW so much and I played on and off for awhile because my friends played but I grew tired of the gameplay (god i am starting to crave it again though) and never really raided or anything as an 80. Let's face it, as cool and addicting WoW is, its formula and gameplay is a turn off for alot of, say, CoD players. But combine MMO with shooter, people will absolutley eat it up.

OH and its free...like farmville free ... so yeah how can this thing not kill WoW?

Looks pretty cool, but WoW is different from gameplay so they wouldnt be necessarily competing with one another. This reminds me of Borderlands, while Wow reminds me of Fable.

Like i keep saying man. The only thing bound to kill WoW at any point is a WoW 2 or something.

You are aware of the millions of people who play WoW right? Some have dedicated years of their life to have awesome guilds. You think they're gonna drop all that for something like this?

You grew tired of the gameplay because it's about doing stuff like raiding and getting better equipment. If all you do is the level grind then not do the end game you will obviously grow tried of it. That game in your link looks horrible and in now way will "kill WoW"

Is it just me, or is this topic really familiar?

The only game capable of killing wow would be a game created by Blizzard themselves. WoW will never die up until that point and with Cataclysm still relatively new, there is no stopping WoW anytime soon. It is a great MMO if you enjoy those type of games.

Or Guild Wars. Or Guild Wars 2. Or Tabula Rasa. Or Aion. Or Star Wars Galaxies. Or Star Trek Online. Or the Matrix Online. Or Age of Conan. Or Warhammer Online. Or Lord of the Rings Online.

Actually, you'll probably hurt less. Some of those were big franchises, developed by experienced MMORPG developers. Firefall is a new IP, and is being developed by a new studio (albeit one lead by a former WoW dev). Red 5 seems to be struggling to maintain what it has.

What I'm trying to say here is; your confidence is not exactly proportionate to the likelihood of this game dethroning WoW.

Nah ones like Maplestory, Everquest 2 and EVE Online which had a dramatically different style of gameplay but failed to kill WoW in anyway.

with every mmorpg that has come out in the last years there is a "this is da wow killer" thread, and they were wrong then, and you are wrong now, this has already been done and failed i think it was called tabula rasa, and it got close because it failed badly.

How is it besides the point? You've basically accused every MMORPG of the last seven years of failing because it copied WoW, which is dubious, and you're ignoring the fact that WoW's design is going to have a huge impact on Firefall's lead designer.

And I think you're dramatically overestimating what it's going to do, given you've proclaimed it'll slay the most successfull MMORPG in history, despite not having the luxury of an established franchise, or the experience of an established developer team.

Not to mention the company has had big financial problems in the past few years, there's doubt this game is going to be a GOOD game, let alone one capable of dethroning WoW.

It;s besides the point because Firefall plays nothing like WoW...I have a feeling nobody watched the whole video and just went auto defense on WoW. Did you guys see the part \when NPCs started attacking the city? Yeah that's awesome. And i read in a developer QA that if you fail to defend the city it becomes under the NPC control and you have to conquer it back... I'm sorry you guys are all blind to awesomeness. Also wtf are you talking about? EVery game developer has to start somewhere and Firefall's developer has quite some talent behind it. seriously watch the video, guys. It looks as polished as any full retail game. It looks like a borderland MMO and we all know how well the sold for a new IP.. You guys are just...butt hurt.

On the contrary, I've lots to say that's critical of WoW. On the whole, I don't think it's actually worth the time or money. That doesn't mean I think this game will be more successful.

Yeah, it's also happened a few times in WoW. Scourge invasion at the start of WOTLK, Battle of the Undercity, the Earth temple thingy in Deepholm in Cataclysm.

Anyone telling you this is new ground for MMORPGs is not really doing you any favours.

It's like expecting the first painting an artist does to be better than the Mona Lisa, or the first restaurant an entrepreneur opens to be more successful than McDonalds.

Right,but Borderlands didn't sell better than WoW, did it? Which is kind of the entire point.

Also notice the financing problems this company has had, notice the personnel problems, and you're billing them to be more successful than WoW, a game which even Blizzard struggled terribly to run at launch due to overpopularity, and had to aggressively market and support for years costing millions of dollars. You're billing this game to wipe that all out straight away.

You need to reconcile the facts with sensible expectations. I can guarantee this game is going to dissapoint you because you've billed it as the messiah.

The only thing that can kill WoW is Blizzard.

I like the e3 demo they showed of this, looked cool, but nothings going to kill wow sadly, not even the super awesome gw2

So the only fun gameplay is the shooter one? Am I getting this right? Imo raiding and pvp gameplay in wow beats the generic simplistic shooter gameplay.
