-Spiritual Succesor to the STALKER series
-Post-Apocalyptic...basedd on some sort of ecological disaster.
-Much larger scope then the STALKER series (not confined to one zone)
-Post-Soviet Atmosphere (so I suppose similar look to STALKER then.)
-Concepts and Ideas from STALKER 2 will be used for SURVARIUM.
-Open development process, lots of information will be given to the community.

-PC exclusive, 2013 release

Ex-STALKER devs and an MMO? There are not enough QA testers in the world to make that work.

I've always wanted to play Stalker COOP, but I don't know about MMO, that could ruin the entire feel. I'll remain hopeful this is good.

I wonder how they'll handle the MMO aspects.

My guess it will kind of be like Red Dead Redemption. When you log in, you're placed in an instance of the game world with random people playing. You can play alone or with the other people.

That would make the most sense for them. It's going to be a traditional MMO like people think. MMO is a very loose term used in the PC gaming world.

Red Dead Redemption wasn't like that. It only had a multiplayer free roam mode and you couldn't do any missions or anything.

If they're doing an MMOFPS and still want to keep that atmosphere, they're going to have to really limit the amount of people in a single instance.

Also, does anyone else worry about the future of STALKER 2 now?

Red Dead Redemption wasn't like that. It only had a multiplayer free roam mode and you couldn't do any missions or anything.

Well imagine if you could do single player stuff too. It would be more than free roam.

Imagine having like co-op Skryim. You get a large world to explore but it's not persistent on some server and you can be paired with pretty much anybody at any time while you play.

It wouldn't be an "mmo" in the traditional sense, but rather just a large co-op game. That would be the easiest design approach for them.

Count me out.. All I wanted was a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with production value.

Did anyone here play the STALKER multiplayer? I sure didn't, that's why I'm worried. Moreover, I live in Australia so unless they have Australian servers I'm f***ed. The concept on paper is awesome if you have player vs player (as well as NPC) factional warfare, territory control that could grant some kind of bonuses and of course just wandering a Zone style setting with other players. What they'd need, imo, is to have food and water and ammunition and maybe even weapon parts so that scavenging and trading became essential to the point that a player could trade some bread or water for a magazine of ammo or an artifact (or other high value items) for some springs for a weapon because they desperately need to defend themselves.

There are two problems I forsee by being an MMO

1. It's the devs who made STALKER
2. STALKER has tons of mod support, so how is that going to happen with this new game? :(

I cannot stress how much I despise MMOs. All these great devs/I.P.s sidelined while they try and get a piece of the WoW pie. (Which will most likely fail.)

Their proprietary Vostok Engine. Probably the Stalker 2 engine. :) If you notice as the video starts, you can see some game footage which looks like Stalker 2. :o

Yes, because the last of us is clearly the only post-apocalyptic game out there, and its not like this is based heavily on STALKER or something.
