I dunno. I dont think the Gamecube owned it's generation. Nintendo hasnt been on top since the 64. PS2 had all the titles and the attention, with Xbox in a respective 2nd. Ya, Gamecube did have better graphics, but thats the way it goes. The Wii is doing it's own thing. I dont digg on it, but hey people do obviously.
[QUOTE="Ragnarok1051"]The gamecube was the best in it's generation? I guess you can say that if you want to totally ignore the PS2.Zero5000Xquality >>> quantity in my book. Yeah the PS2.

The smaller xbox controller??? Smaller to who??? The Big Show?

There was the original one which was huge but then they had a smaller version which is very similar to the current 360 controller.n64 controller was bad, if you wanted to use it for modern games. How would you play a duel analog game on the n64 SAGE_OF_FIREPerfect Dark and Goldeneye says hi.

Omg. Perfect Dark unplayable? That game still has some of the best AI. As far as the remote I know the N64 remote wouldnt work now. But I was comparing to let you know how much the gamecube's controller sux.

For some people it takes more then a few play throughs to get back into a older control style. For me personally I could easily do jus as much damage using the old N64 controller as I do with even the newer ones.

What console is better is a matter of opinion, so no.. that's NOT fact., its called your opinion. As my opinion differs from yours.No.
PS1>N64
PS2>GC
Fact.
goblaa
Anyone else feel that this is the first gen where Nintendo doesnt have the best console? gamecube, n64, snes, nes were all the best consoles in their respective generations as far as I'm concerned.Zero5000X
gamecube was a slightly better wii, You bought it and it hardly got played...I played it more than I play my wii and had more enjoyable games
[QUOTE="goblaa"]What console is better is a matter of opinion, so no.. that's NOT fact., its called your opinion. As my opinion differs from yours. It becomes fact if you look at it by the numbers. Most 3rd party, largest library and most sales software and hardware wise. Sony did win the last two generations.No.

PS2>GC
Fact.
dotWithShoes
actually you got half the facts right ,,
nes and snes and the whole gba line up was a well known success,
n64 was almost, but not quite
gc was the 2nd worst attempt
lets look at similarities between ps2 ps1 nes snes and wii as wel as gb/ds if you will
1 they offer more then double the amount of software, and believe me more then half of each respective consoles software was either family oriented or bargin bin titles, (racing games etc) any game that is not publicly announced basically or has no hype to them
examples- classic british motor sport-wii
corvettte ps2
disaster report ps2-
home alone -nes/snes
ps1-ford racing
see the simularities, yet, if not i assure you will now
back when i first played games, there was no such thing as casual or hardcore, those are just new terms to bash ones console, i prefer gamer as a whole t obe used what do we have ot play games 24 7 just to get some respect? if so that is pretty sad standards ,
do we have to play fpses and racers every release? thats also pretty sad ,
and no we do not at least not in theser eras ,
it seams parents dont teach their kids nothing, but how to put one down \
and im not going to argue lol, because these are the facts
each of these consoles were the least powerful in their gens -excluding snes, some were equal-nes
and each did not find ways to make consumers spend over 500 dollars in one shot, 400 was the maximum at the time
these are some of the games on snes ive enjoyed,
top gear
super mario kart
zelda
mario is missing
rock n roll racing
ps2-
ford racing 2
ford racing 3
gt4
gt3
timesplitters-series
rock band
bully
gta ,
nes
zelda \
mario
metroid
dr mario
tetris
top gun and micro machines
ps1 need for speed 3
crash and spyro
ford racing
bowling
and wii
classic british motor racing
mario
zeldaq
metroid
ssbb
and so much mor why, because
1 -graphics shall not matter could help it but hey if its fun , dont bother
2 who gives a about ratings, or violence ingames these are the things, nes snes and ps1 werent known for, ps2 was some what, but it still had its touch artound any genre you can think of , and wii same goes
dont say oh theres no games,"for gamers" because almost any game on wii is for gamers, maybe your to choosy,
but thats your problem but heres a fact
when looking though gamestop youll notice how wii has a bigger selection not only does it have a nice selection of games, from a variety of genres,
but it has alot of cult classics on the virtual console sure you mahy have played them but doesnt it seam nice that you can play all your nintendo games with one unit -this is what ive wanted for since, n64, (sortA) SURE ILL HAVE TO REBUY THEM but this is better then lets see hooking up and unhooking all these consoles,
gc games are the exception because their playable also ,, tg16 neo geo sms are consoles ive never owned, so its a plus to have that available to me
lets face it who wants to look around to find some of these things, these games can be expensive especally segas ,
speaking of finding things and taking along time to do it,
i finally nailed top gear rally 2 , ive been looking for this thing since release lol , lets see 1999-2009 ten years, of patience, paying off ,
now 1 more top gear ,, and ive been looking for that one even longer after selling mine lol, 1998-2009 (after it broke sold all my snes games because i couldnt find snes any where, so ya its becoming quite a chore finding a few missing titles)
i would have prefer hard ware emu but the wii provides a close enough expierence, possibly the best in terms of all the emus out there, or clone units, (the best one i used is the retro duo) but that only plays nes and snes titles ,
wii plays all previous nintendo consoles and some other competitors from tyhe time consoles
so ya who can argue that, this is the worst gen for nintendo appearently your under a rock because this is the first time sense snes that nintendo has been out front,
this is due to the fact they went back to their roots, litterally, sure you werent using motion sensing controllers, but you where playing an assortment of games from the competition ,
if you dont remember, snes had more titles then genesis exclsuive to it,
nes definately with out a doubt has no exclusives,
why n64 failed to capture is because of use of cartridge
gc=lack of online play period,
wii has solved these issues,
sure it isnt the best online , but it is free! and also nintendos first try on a home console, can you remember when xbox or dc /ps2 first entered the online market, these werent the best offerings nope, it took time, go ahead argue all you want becaquse its true like the internet it self which started on a 28 k , went on to 56 k then to broadband cable dsl or highspeed t1/t3
and nintendo did revive the market, so id give them my respect, more actually,
theyve raised the bar, for a company that was said to be doomed theyve done the imposible, it wanst hard either
they did these simple tasks to put them there this has nothing tyo do with wii pricing, gc was 50 less at launch and ended up sour
1 they went back to their roots-providing, new expierence in gaming, ala nes
2 gained respect from third party publishing studios, violent games or not, every title counts especally for big collectors such as my self
3 they learned from previous mistakes -cart when cd is in , no online etc, wii addreess most of this , and you still complain how, their no different from sony or microsoft, only the fact that wii does not force fpses and racers down our throats one after the other and the inferior graphics, which ps2 was known for lol,
face it , if any console maker wants to succeed they better offer these things , 1 a variety of titles for 50 or less
2 not force online down our throats
3 more family oriented gameplay, fun for every one ,including adults, nes /ps2 etc
4 dont charge more then 400 dollars, sega learned the hard way, ms made the wise decision to lower its price below that , sony has just done so thatsx a check mark for 4 on ms/sony
5 gain more third party support- i dont care what type of developer or game it is, they have to do somthing like ps2 nes snes ps1 and wii did ,,
that is allow every one in their mother develope games for it, as a owner of all 3 consoles, i know what i am talking about,
ive played since nes and own everything up to ps3 except colicovision sms jaguar all the uknown ones ,
i managed to get a atari 2600 lol dont ask
but ya,
if they were smart .each one would aim at a different market,
example
wii is in its own market-its marketed towards every one
then ps3 or 360 can be the family oriented console, for fun
ps3 or 360 can be also for the ones who like fps and stuff of that nature, that way,
there will be no fight lol,
you buy what you want they could all get their seperate games to ,,
need for speed nitro is an example of this ,
as nintendo said before , 3 consoles aiming at a (im going to use your complaints here) hard core only market, not gonna work, sony figured this out , til now ,
i dont know what sony was thinking they had it their way til now, ms we knew didnt know not much about it, so ya give em 2 thumbs up for trying
faulty hardware only goes so far
its a shame because i like the 360 , and xbox,
i also like ps3 but it s bad when games for these are only release months at a time unlike wi which sees new games virtually every day just like the nes days , developing it is faster easier on last gen stuff because they know it ,
gotta look at the positive side of things here because, we dont need a video game crash of 2009 now do we , nintendo is preventing this

I sorta liked my cube better than my box but I wont say cube owned that generation. Other than metroid and smash bros. etc, I can't think of a game that introduce some sort of upping the standards like Nintendo usually did. N64 I don't remember being on top either and I'm a nintendo "child at heart". However, that system redefined some genres and polygon games ala Mario and Ocarina...best gaming memory for me is Ocarina but I don't think N64 owned that gen.
If we talk quality, NES and SNES and arguably cube had that in the bag. But SNES was when it was a true force. The Wii I like but as with any nintendo system, there are alot of crap software to go w/ the awesome ones. So while it is killing in sales, I think nintendo has not been the best since SNES.
Gamecube probably has the worst controllers I've ever used. If it wasn't for the Wavebird controllers, I don't think I would have kept the Cube around. It had a few really great games, but on the whole, for me, it was a distant 3rd behind the PS2 and XBOX. BigJerm1
during ps2 days anything was a distant 3rd in sales. I don't recall any company every dominating in sales for 3 gens in a row. NES to SNES, then it was PS1 to PS2. Xbox 360 is arguable since Wii is out selling it despite the library selection of Wii. I personally wish Nintendo would just take some NES classics and finally put it on a system that is toe to toe tech wise w/ 360 and PS3. We all know most of their exclusives deliver and most of their franchise have special places in our hearts.
Imagine Zelda, Mario, Mario Cart, smash bros., metriod, kid icarus, all Miyamoto games w/the power of PS3 and 360....
