despite it getting an excellent score, it won't be enough to beat the wii in japan even for the week it is released - i'm beginning to think that even if MS sold the thing for $1 with 20 good games like gears etc they still wouldn't win. Japanese just don't like an american console moving in.

Ill say that Japan will never buy Western games regardless of the quality. Its a matter of taste and preferance.

Americans have no problems buying up mediocre Japanese games like Pokemon, but high quality Western games like Balder's Gate and Half Life will never be popular with the gaming public in Japan

froget janaese gamers all they play is wow and crappy jrpg's, microsoft should just stop waisting money over there and spend it on the country that really could accept a great console with a wide variety of games, and not just play jrpg and square enix crap.

I think what he's trying to say:

"I don't know that Western games don't appeal to the Japanese since Western publishers have never taken Japan seriously since only 1 of them publish games there, thus they have no influence. Also I don't know that Microsoft doesn't give a crud about Japan since they publish one big budget title that's appealing to the country every year."

And if they do get published they get handed to niche publishers such as Atlus.

And if they do get handed to big publishers they do sell well such as the SimCity and GTA Franchises.
