This is a radical redesign of Winning Eleven/Pro Evo, and for the most part it works exceedingly well. Assuming that it's at least commercially successful enough to merit an update next year, Konami should think about tweaking the defensive controls. But Wiining Eleven is off to a fine start, regardless – it's a rare example of a third-party being sufficiently clever and bold in its use of Wii controls, and as a result it manages to create a completely new kind of footballing experience that can be immensely satisfying.

Now that's what I'm talking. Gotta give props to Konami.

I don't think it was the first review as Official nintendo magazine reviewed it on Febraury the 15th and it got 90% so I'm hoping it will do well here on gamespot toofabz_95

The first real Wii game that has got me excited. I love football and the one thing that annoys me most about the other versions is the penchant for players to make passes in random directions regardless of how you aim the stick or their passing skill.Stonin

For me its mainly the part when Im 2-1 behind in the 90th minute and I pass to a player in the box, only to see him run in a different direction than the ball. So hopefully (and probably) this game will get rid of that.

The 360 one is ok but not much of an update, the PS3 suffers really badly online and has some FR issues. Overall still enjoyable though.

But those gamers arn't dumb. They know they havn't released a good next gen Pro Evo yet. The PS2 version is still best. Thats why a load of football fans have held back from buying the PS3 and X360 versions as well as next gen consoles.

Simple, obviously his 360 is his first console and now he thinks he is "teh hardcore" because he plays Halo 3 and sports games.

I dont usually get soccer games, but I'm always looking for games with high concept controls for my wii. That's really what devs should focus on for the console. Maybe I'll rent this one first, but it looks like it could be the future of all sports games on the wiiGunSmith1_basic

At least team games. It certainly adds quite a bit of depth to the game. I never quite understood how tactically-oriented team games ended up with action-adventure controls.

Well,ive just began to deteste Pro evo games,2008 was horrible,its like EA and Konami swapped places,EA innovated and changed things,wereas Pro Evo just messed it all up.

The Wii version looks set to restore my faith,us europeans will eat it up,and the ret of the world too

Looks nice, but I doubt it will sell well, pro evo addicts won't be trading the controls they have been mastering for years for a new control layout, never going to happen. I tried to play fifa 08 with some friends but even if the game was better they just didn't like it because the controls werent the same.

I think it's just a different name for a different region. Such as how Link to the Past was called Triforce of the Gods or something crazy like that.

konami konami konami... you have thoroughly impressed me. after the dissapointment as a huge football fan of PES 2008, you as a 3rd party do something groundbreaking and innovative on the wii and create a great game. my trust is with you once more.

/ no but seriously i LOVE the tactics in this game and how they can be deployed, i have a feeling im going to be VERY good at this game...

hopefully first timers arent put off or intimidated by the amazing controls.
