Five Games That Will Be Classics

Before you answer this, understand what a classic is.

A classic is not a game like Crysis or Gears of War. These two games are defined by graphics. In a few years they will look out dated, and people will forget about them. Don't say this isn't true, because it is. Far Cry, the once extraordinary game, is a mediocre game graphically and gameplay wise in this day and age--it would have been blasphemy to say that when it came out, though.

A classic game is a game like Super Mario Bros. , Deus Ex, Chrono Trigger, Ocarina of Time, System Shock 2, and Final Fantasy VII.

So here are my Five Anticipated Classics:

1. Bioshock (PC, 360)

2. Alan Wake (PC, 360)

3. Mass Effect (360)

4. Spore (PC)

5. Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)

I agree with Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc. But not MGS4 or any other sequel.

Like I said in the OP, you guys need to make your own lists, so we can compare them. The games I posted will be classics in my eyes. Saying something is "classic" is subjective.

True it's a revamped port of Tetris Attack, but it will be a classic for new gamers.

i cant wait to see what the next-gen pop will look like.. after seeing Assassins creed, it will probably look similar.

I dont wanna sound like somekind of n00b but I havent been in the gaming loop for over 3mths so i'll have to get some intel.:P

well i would say Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted drakes futune, Bioshock, Assasin creed, and im still thinking for this last one...there is no Wii game that really feels like a classic......Mario Galaxy is nota classic considering that there is about 100 million marios games....

Alan Wake for 360 and PC will be just that.

well i would say Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted drakes futune, Bioshock, Assasin creed, and im still thinking for this last one...there is no Wii game that really feels like a classic......Mario Galaxy is nota classic considering that there is about 100 million marios games....

Thats what usually happens with almost anything, you get a concept and build on it. I heard in the latest EGM that they were putting this into the latest Splinter Cell game.

Yeah, but from what i've seen, in the last 3 mths they've just been adding to the hype, so I'll be fine I guess.:D

Crysis is ABSOLUTELY NOT defined by graphics. I can't believe it, don't even put this OPEN-ENDED game in the same sentence as GeoW. Just because these guys have some of the best coders in the world and a huge budget doesn't mean the game is only graphics. They just have the extra man power and resources compared to other teams.

Also, FarCry STILL has some of the best gameplay in any FPS to date. It was just flawed (ala Wolfenstein 3d). Crysis will be Crytek's Doom. Also, GameSpot has just confirmed that Bioshock has pretty mush the same core gameplay and functions as System Shock 2. It isn't fresh enough and the videos prove it.

Crysis will definitely be a classic. It's going to be a trilogy and will become the new source engine, highly modifiable and superb graphics and physics.

How are any of us supposed to know that? The developers probably haven't even finished it yet, and any 'official' length is usually exaggerated.
