The dude gets an insane amount of hate directed at him, that sheer volume of angry people spouting garbage at you is extremely hard to deal with and can break people down or make them depressed really damn fast so I don't blame him
The internet could cry like a bitch all day every day and I wouldn't care if I was making $50,000 a day. Cry all you want as I am on my way to the bank.
What a panzy, if I could make that same amount of money a day, I'd rub it on peoples faces and not care because I got rich and people are jealous of it
Can't really blame him. I'd do the same thing too. Dude's probably made more than enough to last him quite a bit and considering where he lives (Vietnam) I'm sure he's deeply concerned for his own safety.

Why not just keep collecting that bank roll and Move then? With the amount of cash this guys receiving just by having the game up, He could live wherever the hell he wanted, even hire security.

or simply buy vietnam.

His family and close friends would still be at danger. In Vietnam it's fairly common for wealthier businessmen to travel with armed guards. All this money has brought him a kind of fear that he's never experienced before.
He made in one day what takes most Vietnamese over 2 decades to make. That people in this thread merely thinks he doesn't like what the Twitter populace has to say is laughable. Twitter is the least of his concerns right now.
And here's this now...

He's in danger based on what exactly? Internet threats? Those cowards wouldn't do anything that requires them leaving their mom's basement.
Oh boo hoo, you make $50K a day and you aren't laughing all the way to the bank?
You have no idea what the guy is going through to make such a statement. He gets absolutely attacked on twitter by the millions a day, he gets death threats and people constantly saying he's copying everything else. people who are just angry at the game take it out on him and tell him to "**** off and die"
Unless you experience what it's like to be hated by a large group of people you never know what it's like or the effects it can have on you. I get bombarded daily on youtube with people calling me gay, saying I'm copying or I suck and when you see all of that compounded it really depresses you
Here's a live list of tweets of hate targeted towards him with just the words "**** you" in their tweets, you can bet he gets a LOT more
https://twitter.com/search?q=%40dongatory%20fuck%20you&src=typd&f=realtime
One such example. Some people don't just brush off hate and find happiness in money

When did people start taking things people said on the internet seriously? It's like letting a bully's words get to you on the school yard. The troll wins when you take them seriously.

Just because you or I don't take it seriously doesn't mean everyone is the same, you should know this. Plus you've never had a huge torrential wave of hate directed right at you before like this guy has, you simply can't compare your experience of the internet to his
Look at how many people have comitted suicide because of internet hate or bullying. Clearly a lot of people DO take things seriously on the internet and brushing it off as "who cares if you have money?" or "well it's his fault for taking it seriously then" is just dumb.
Money doesn't just silence people or drown out hate and yes the internet is a shit place but that doesn't mean you're immune to it, it can get to you quite fast

plus, if he was taking things seriously - he is now in a conundrum.
yes, he is receiving threats for putting the game up...
but now he risks death for taking the game down! https://twitter.com/YoungWillz_3/status/432621959101161472
so, it seems death is inevitable for Mr Dong. this was actually the case before he released his game.

this.... It's a flaw to be jealous and the internet unfortunately augments the nasty side of human behavior... see Angry Birds, or CoD, or WoW or whatever, rinse and repeat... Though honestly, if I were in his shoes I'd be proud of my game and I'd flaunt it out there, making that fat cake and instagraming pics of myself to my haters, tossing benjamins in the air... eff the haters... always eff the haters.
I totally understand the dude, people react differently and not everyone wants to be famous. Even if he get's money while doing it. It's his choice and i totally get why he is doing it. It is sad that stupid people are raging and ruining things again

He's in danger based on what exactly? Internet threats? Those cowards wouldn't do anything that requires them leaving their mom's basement.
He lives in an incredibly poor and corrupt country where gourmet meals cost up to 5 bucks. He instantly shot up to the 1% of his country and has made international headlines. He is Vietnam's first tech celebrity and considering he lives in a communist country he's going to be expected to cut the government a large portion, if not most of the money he's made. Every family member he has, every friend and himself are in danger of being attacked by armed thugs. People who make a portion of what he does travel with armed security due to the constant fear or being attacked. If he wants to live a safe life he now has to move himself and everyone he cares for completely out of the country and into a Western society.
Not to mention he's most likely being completely overwhelmed by business propositions, the fear of legal action from Nintendo and the thousands of death threats he's facing through social media, which considering his situation, he can't help but treat them all seriously.

Well I'm sure some of those are extreme assumptions on your part. With the money he's made he can easily afford to do just that: move his entire family to a more civilized location.

Wow........ that's really sad. Losing faith in humanity again. U___U
Also I don't think anyone here know how it feels to receive thousands of hate messages everyday (maybe beside Jack). Even if you're successful, the disgusting stuff people behind their screen can get anyone down. You need to be tough to handle all that hate.
Sorry but you guys can't talk. Experience it yourself then talk.
Oh boo hoo, you make $50K a day and you aren't laughing all the way to the bank?
I have to agree, and no Sean, I do not need one of you Psychology lessons/speeches.
LOL if you can't take a bit of abuse don't make any software ever. Because you will get abuse no matter what. He does realise people are not serious and they they are the fucking retards.
Don't tell me he was stupid enough to associate his real name with the app he made...

I wasn't trying to make myself sound pompous or anything so I'm sorry if I came off that way to some but just that I get my fair share of hate and it can be really saddening to see something you meant for good be turned against you for a reason to hate you forever, but what I get is very manageable. It's nowhere near the levels this guy gets. You may get loving messages from time to time but it's always the hate commenys that stand out and that you remember the most.
his guy has almost become internet public enemy no.1 and for no real reason
Oh boo hoo, you make $50K a day and you aren't laughing all the way to the bank?

Not like you'd listen to it anyway because you're one of the haters I was making an example of above
You went from saying I was great to despising me just on one video alone and ever since then have just latched onto me as a hater and never let go or changed no matter what I did. Not only that but your reasons for hating me were absurd and unfoudned too.
He's probably getting sued by Nintendo for the obvious graphic rip off, and just can't talk about it. Anyway the game sucks as far as I'm concerned, so no big loss.
I don't know living conditions of the vietnamese so, I am making an uninformed opinion here.....but he is a puss, I can't fathom what is so bad about twitter that he has to give up 50k a day. Should've just posted, 'sorry guys can't hear you over the money' and closed the twitter. Its the internet...but like I said, if vietnam is as hostile as an earlier poster said then I can see why sudden wealth is alot more alarming and real life threating....then again on 50k a day he could've moved himself and all loved ones no problem while still making bank.
Either way pissing away 50k a day is an ass backwards choice.
Can't really blame him. I'd do the same thing too. Dude's probably made more than enough to last him quite a bit and considering where he lives (Vietnam) I'm sure he's deeply concerned for his own safety.
per vietnam, he's made more in a month than many make in 20 years
Oh boo hoo, you make $50K a day and you aren't laughing all the way to the bank?
Oh seriously stfu. Let me guess you are one of those hypocrites that say money can't buy happiness? It appears to me those same people who say money won't make you happy, ALWAYS attack rich people and claim rich people are not allowed to be depressed, sad, or unfortunate, because they are rich. I'm probably the most materialistic person out there so I do believe money buys happiness but to the 99% that say money can't buy happiness, you HAVE to feel sorry for rich people just as much as you would a poor person. (who is depressed/sad/whatever)
But wow, $50,000/day? holy weoifjweiof that's $18 250 000/yr (roughly what an S&P500 CEO makes) if it stays like that all year. I'm cringing at the thought of some one saying no to that :/
Am I the only one that doesn't buy his excuses? It just seems strange. I'm more inclined to believe hes afraid that the game getting more attention can cause Nintendo to take notice of the similar assets. I mean he made some good money already better not risk losing it.
Some of you are forgetting where that guy lives. There is always a big reason for someone to turn down that much money. If that amount of money doesn't make him happy, he sure can send it my way
That guy doesn't care what people say... lol
There is obviously a lawsuit pending and he was ordered to pull the game or get in worse legal trouble. He is probably settling with Nintendo and keeping the vast majority of the small fortune he made. Keeping it up would have lost him MUCH more. It was not because "he couldn't handle it." lol....50k a day? $350k a week... A cool million every 20 days,,,,, yeah... he took it down because he couldn't take little internet piss ants flaming him... yeah that's it *sarcasm*
@Mozelleple112: That's why he went straight to the top of the rich list in his country. I think it overhelmed him
I really feel for this guy.
Also, I believe the game spent some time in obscurity before suddenly becoming a prize horse, so he probably did'nt expect to make much money in the first place.
Besides, money becomes a hollow pleasure once you have enough. That's why most rich people are rather... Unsympathetic.

Gamers can be the biggest bunch of dicks on the planet when they want to be
I think Flappy Birds is a really stupid game but I don't understand why people need to take it to a personal level. It doesn't harm us in any way if we don't like it. Lots of sad people out there though he should get some thicker skin.

Flappy Bird Creator Is Removing The Game From Stores
Developer Dong Nguyen announced via Twitter that the game will be taken off the Apple and Google markets in 22 hours.
Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has surprisingly announced via Twitter that his game will be taken offline in just 22 hours. "I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users," said Nguyen, "I cannot take this anymore." He later added that the reasoning for the takedown is "not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore," and that he will continue to make new games.
Flappy Bird is the frustratingly difficult iPhone and Android game that quickly, and unexpectedly, shot to the number 1 spot in both the Apple app store and Google's Play store. However, it faced some pretty harsh criticism from the citizens of the internet, both for being a "terrible game" as well as essentially plagiarizing assets from Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. series.
It looks like Nguyen, who reportedly makes up to $50,000 a day from the game, simply can't handle the internet vitriol being slung at him on a daily basis. And hey, who can blame him? Some of the things people say under the protection of internet anonymity can be pretty vile.
Nonetheless, it would have to be pretty harsh comments for him to throw away $50,000 a day, and it's possible that there may be some kind of legal action under the surface that Nguyen can't, or won't, talk about.
What do you think? Have you played Flappy Bird? Is it just a shameless cash-in of Mario assets thrown around a haphazardly built game, or is it the next Angry Birds?
