Flexibility:
Foil = yes
Epee = less than foil
Saber = less than foil and epee
Rapier = less than saber = little to no flexibility?
In modern fencing, I suppose that's true. However, the 17th century saw the inclusion of ridiculously thin rapiers with enourmously elaborate hilts. Those were pretty floppy, I believe.
