There's no sense of achievement, or accomplishing anything in this game. It doesn't relate the scenes in the city to the plains parts, and the gameplay was too basic. This game for me is the biggest failure in gaming this generation.

It was trying to be a unique, peaceful and beautiful experience butobviously it didn't fit your taste.
Are you serious? This game was awesome!!! It was trying to be awesome and succeeded. Best downloadable game of 09
It wasn't for you, but it's hard to call it a failure. The designer wanted the player to chill out and feel refreshed and at peace when they were done. I think they succeeded. Some people just don't like games that don't get their heart beating faster, it seems. There's no sense of achievement, or accomplishing anything in this game. nope, that was shadow complex...by far.
I won that VGA Dew Downloadable Game thing and they sent me Flower this past weekend. I redeemed it but haven't tried it yet because I'm too busy playing recently purchased Castle Crashers. I'll play it later on this week. So far the reviews I've read are positive so I expect it to be good.

I never played the game so I am only speaking from watching the trailers but seemed kinda like a girly game to me. I mean the whole point was to just float around as a flower and thats it.
Usually I just, you know, go outside. Kick a ball around or something. To relax.
Relaxing games are very few. Sometimes I just get tired of stressing out myself over a shooter or a difficult game. There are times where I just want to play in peace.
Heavy Rain is looking to do that as well.
Ninten007
i like it but it could use the dual analog rather (or optional) instead of the crappy sh!taxis controls
I had to  at the Heavy Rain part. Heavy rain is a mobie with a part every now and then where you have to tie a tie or put on make-up. Everything I have seen about Heavy Rain it just makes me laugh when people call it a game I mean heck even the developer of the game does not consider Heavy Rain a gameTo relax.

Yea kiddo, but what about the adults, like me,who work 8 hours a day and come home wanting to relax using video game entertainment?
It was made to help relieve stress and as a peaceful and beautiful alternative to all the bloody, gory shooters.

You're right. It's better than a game.

The next time you watch a movie, pick up your 360 controller. Then tell all of us if you can control it or not? Tell us if you can control your character's morale decisions and spoken dialoges.
To relax.

I push buttons when I use the microwave that does not make cooking a game. Your analogy= failHeavy Rain has a few things but gameplay is sure not one.
without the sixaxis the game would not be near as good as it is.Flower is a game that was released on the Wrong system.
LegatoSkyheart
I don't think it had a point, other than trying to be artistic and unique. I'm really starting to hate those two terms.
For some reason, the game kind of gives me that Sonic Adventure vibe.
It does too relate the apartment visuals to what's happening in the level. Guess you didn't bother playing past the second level or something. The gameplay being basic is kind of the point. It's supposed to be calm and soothing. The simple control system and design works perfectly to that end.
To relax.

It was meant to be calm and relaxing and I for one really enjoyed that aspect. Video games don't always have to be KILL KILL KILL EXPLOSION DEATH!!!!AcidSoldneryou have to admit that Flower would have been pretty kick ass with random explosions though!

Dude, it was just a downloadable game. It wasn't meant nor was it trying to be anything special. Its only purpose was to look pretty and keep you busy for five minutes. I thought the game was cute and I ended up spending a whole hour doing nothing(I was amazed). It's not your cup of tea I understand but I don't really think it was looking to achieve anything outside of just being there and looking good. There's no sense of achievement, or accomplishing anything in this game. Did you actually try the game, or did you just watch a video? It's a beautiful, relaxing experience. If you can't understand the goal of the game, it obviously wasn't for you. That, however, does not make it a failure. It obviously won the hearts of critics and people posting in this thread, myself included.

Double this post. Actually i'll triple it for the board of canada winIn their defence, what's the point in providing a decent response when he'll just toss stupid dreck like: "Usually I just, you know, go outside. Kick a ball around or something." back at you? He's obviously not particularly interested in conducting a discussion.I love it how people criticizing the TC and assuming he doesn't like the game because it doesn't have guns when all he complained about was that there was no sense of achievement in the game and that the gameplay was too basic

I derived enjoyment out of the very first level. The mellow music, how it plays a note on the guitar as you pop a flower, how the grass bends as you woosh through it, how you fill in the world with specks of color, the twirly motions of the petals, the tranquil pace, the oddly tangible feel of controlling the wind, flying through yourself, the pretty visuals, especially the glowing grass level. I found it immensely satisfying. I'm not quite sure what type of achievement the game would be missing.
