Folders Coming to PS Vita

One of the biggest issues with the Vita and its OS is its file management system; there is no ability to make folders, and the system itself only allows for a total of ten 'bubbles' per home screen and ten home screens total for only a 100 bubbles (a huge problem when you consider that every game on the Vita, whether retail or digital, creates its own 'bubble'). Looks like that's finally getting addressed.

PS Vita v2.20 update to add folders

The next PlayStation Vita system software update, version 2.20, is set to arrive in the next couple of days and will add the ability to create folders, this weeks Dengeki PlayStation reveals.

Here are the details:

Folders

• You can configure folders.
• Up to 10 icons in a folder.
• You can name the folders what you want.
• The icons displayed on the home screen get shrunk a little, so they also end up a bit grainy.
• Unclear whether the icon limit will increase or not.

Browser Improvements

• Stream web videos.
• Not sure what format.

Nasne Link Improvement

• Transfer / back up save data, etc. with Nasne via Wi-Fi.

Nasne Update 1.70

• Nasne gets an update; better link functionality.

So the Vita finally catches up to the 3DS in that regard! Only took it one year.  

Jokes apart, this is good. Even if the total bubble/home screen limit isn't increased, theoretically we can now have a 1000 bubbles on the Vita instead of the usual 100.

You mean surpasses 3ds in another regard. Since we will probably be able to create folders directly on vita while 3ds has to use a pc.p4s2p0

Yay!!! though the 10 per folder limit wont hold all my games. Still much better than having to swipe all the way down to find what you're looking for.

Next up is the wiiu which is missing this simple as **** feature.

Guacamelee just came out, Tearaway just got a release date, Batman Origins Blackgate or whatever it's called just got announced, the Vita gets good/exciting news every week.  The last couple of weeks all we heard about was a ton of awesome indie games making their way to the system.   

Anyways, this is great news.  I was just starting to get a space problem on my Vita.  The web videos is a nice addition as well, hopefully I'll be able to watch videos posted on IGN, Gamespot, and Giant Bomb instead of waiting for them to be put up on YouTube.

everyone has missed the most important debate of this thread. are the icons "bubbles" or "buttons"? this is a serious matter that needs to be discussed. I vote buttons. :P. anyway nice to have. the 100 icon limit (less considering some of the junkware that comes with the vita cant be removed) was far from ideal. can you put folders in folders? im guessing no.osan0

The YouTube app for Vita is actually pretty good, I will probably continue use it, unlike the crappy Facebook app.

I was listening to some Justin Timberlake while on a treadmill and accidentally swiped at my earbud's wires and they popped out of the Vita, letting everyone around me hear.

This will be a welcome addition indeed.
