if i had a choice id buy the bluray add on
but if i was to buy a bluray player id buy a standalone because those are usually the best quality ones
I don't need no stinking Blu-ray. If I want to see a movie I see it in the theater and if I can't see it in the theater I wait until friend or family gets it and watch with them. If I vaguely want to see a movie I wait until it's on HBO, Showtime, or Starz. $35 is way too much for something that will mostly sit on my shelf.

You really think Microsoft will have a add-on for under $200? On Nextag these starting at $206

Blu ray add on,of course.I wonder what cows will do when their system isnt the only way to get blu ray on a console anymore.xgraderx
I don't know. A PS3 costs 400 and a 360 + the add on is 470+ (if you go with the arcade). Either way you look at it, PS3 is still the cheapest blu ray.
Neither. Why pay double or triple the price of a DVD for a small jump in quality? I'll wait until they are more normal prices before I buy one.darklord888
thats just it its not a small jump in quality its more like a leap. Im not gonna pull up the chart showing the effectivness of HD from a certain distance but its noticable. 300 on blu-ray vs. dvd is astounding. Animation moves especially shine in HD. There are a bit overpriced (25-35) but @ 25 for the extra picture quality and sound quality its worth it.
(This whole post assumes that you have a HDTV, if you don't then blu-ray would be utterly pointless.)

Not for the people who already have the 360.neither.....cuz i already own a PS3:PMerek16
Exactly! Just pay $399 for a PS3 and have both and get to play the great games that use great Bluray capacity like MGS 4 on a 50 gb disc, get free themes, and free online.
All these add-ons remind me of something...I just cant put my finger on it...It started with an S...I remeber it was cool at one point but it kept getting all these add-ons and soon it seemed like the system was getting desperite...I mean it was good but I believe the system is no more...what was it called....OH YEAH SEGA!!!!!
Dear MS, learn from Sega's mistakes....add-on=bad

I would buy a stand alone Blu-Ray player after they enter the realm of price reality for the masses
as for the jump in quality, sorry, I sitting here watching Indiana Jones and the last crusade on my HD-DVD player upscaled, and it looks great, does it look as good as an Hd-DVD, no, but the average consumer is not going to care that hd disks are slightly better than upscaled
I still don't think Blu-ray or any Hd format is better enough for people to abandon DVD, we have DVD players in our cars, all rooms of the house, on our computers, and in small portable form, why buy a movie that will only play on one player, instead of a movie that will play everywhere.
I bought HD-DVD after they dropped the price below $100, and i do not regret it one bit, the HD movies look nice, and most of my regular DVD's look pretty damn good as well
I don't think Digital downloads will replace DVD's either, I think regular DVD's will still be #1 for a long time
