Yeah, right. Go play Uncharted for that hot garbage. Gears is 100 percent action. Nice try cow. You know maybe he just likes puzzles no need to be upset maybe he don't like cover shooters

I really really don't think puzzles would work well in Gears - it's an all out, over the top blast-a-thon, it's not meant to be overly varied.

Gears' biggest drawback is that it never does a good job of changing up it's incredibly monotonous shooting. Epic simply has no idea how to properly pace their campaign.
Look at Resistance 3 - That is a game that knows where it's going at all times (except for the ending, which was admittedly lame). One moment you're fending off a convoy of Chimera, and the next you're on a slow atmospheric boat ride that steadily builds up to a hectic conclusion. Or you're slowly making your way through a dark moody forest, methodically taking out enemy snipers, and in the next section of the game you're being held captive in a prison fighting for your life with a sledgehammer. THAT'S good pacing.
Epic's attempts at breaking up the constant shooting fall flat on their face, and mainly consist of lame driving sections that are more a chore than anything, or incredibly easy anti-climactic boss fights. From what I hear though, and so it seems, Epic has learned from their mistakes and have crafted one hell of a campaign in Gears 3, so I'm hoping it's as exciting as some reviewers claim.

Gameplay, an area in which it is unrivaled. Vanquish is a majestic symphony of bullets and you're the goddamn conductor. What Bayonetta was to the action genre, Vanquish is to the TPS genre.

Actually every Gears game was praised for their amazing campaigns. Gears 3, on the other hand, seems to be the first Gears game with a solid and polished competitive multiplayer mode!
If you're looking for a "thinking" game then you're looking at the wrong game.
Also, no one here ha played it...
Chutebox
Actually i have played it. I'm in act 4 now. Preordered the game and got lucky to get it a few days earlier.
@topic: No they haven't changed the gameplay. Why would they?
The only people I know of who didn't like the Gears of War campaigns are people on system wars. Everyone I know outside of these boards loves the campaigns. I'm not sure if people on these forums hate just to hate or if they actually don't like the campaigns. I for one thought they were both amazing! As for Vanquish... The gameplay in that game was incredibly solid. Something like I haven't played before. The problem with the game is a 4 hour campaign that doesn't have any replayability, a story that was not interesting at all, and characters that you could care less about. I played the game just to beat it and nothing more. Gears of War on the other hand has everything you could possibly want packaged into one game! The gameplay is solid, even though it is more of your typical TPS than Vanquish, the story I find is very interesting, the characters are over the top but all extremely likable and you can develope an emotional connection to them, co-op campaign, an awesome multiplayer, and stunning visualls. You can't go wrong with this game!!!RyanShazam
Where do people always get "4 hour campaign" from? Unless you rocket slide past a lot of enemy encounters and rush through everything, there's just no way your first playthrough will be that short. I believe mine was 7 or 8 hours, which is right around the average completion time. The only supposed "credible" review source that claimed Vanquish was 4 hours long was Game Informer, and Platinum called them out on their BS. Most other critics said it was longer.
And the replay value of Vanquish depends entirely upon if you're somebody who likes to rack up high scores. Some people do, some don't. I got a lot of game time out of Vanquish because of the higher difficulties and challenge modes, and the obsession of toping my best performance. Game is magical.
I actually enjoyed Gears singleplayer. It's morememorable for me then Uncharted's (Not including the odd zombie twist in the first)
Vanquish was a fun concept, but I didn't much enjoy it after an hour ot two. It seemed all flairm with nothing bakcing it up except arcade style points. Never was a fan of that kind of gaming, im a lazy gamer.
you don't have to hide behind rocks, you could just run up to locust soldier folk and try posing some conundrums.
fyi the story is quite puzzling.:|

LOL. Vanquish is definitely one of those games where you gotta put time into becoming good to truly appreciate it's excellence. If you play it like a normal TPS ala Gears, it's gonna seem pretty run of the mill. If you take advantage of the speed and master all the fancy maneuvers, you pretty much become Ryu Hayabusa with a machine gun. Then Vanquish becomes a whole 'nother beast entirely, and one of the most intense action games ever conceived.
Vanquish was a fun concept, but I didn't much enjoy it after an hour ot two. -Snooze-This. After the novelty of the (granted, amazing) gameplay wears off, there's nothing left, since the game fails horribly in everything else (pacing, setpieces design presentation, enemy variety, etc, etc, etc).

Couldn't disagree more. Next to the gameplay, the pacing and set pieces are among it's strongest elements. The Argus core, the monorail sequence, fight on the collapsing bridge, encountering the Unknown, final boss fight - all grade A epic masterful game design of the most phenominally angelic kind.
On topic - currently trying to convince my brother to buy Gears 3 when it comes out. I wanna play it!
