For graphic king comparison why not post videos instead of pictures?

I always see pc, 360, ps3 owners posting cherry pickedpictures of games claiming that its the new graphic king. Yet when I play those games they look nothing like the pictures. I say when someone wants to talk about new graphic king they need to post videos and not pictures. Forexaple when I look at crysis pictures they look amazing. I have hard time telling difference between fake and real life pictures butwhen i see the game in motion it lookstotaly different and looks no where as realistic as the picures. Same goes for racing games.Videos tell bigger story in my opinion. What do you guys think?

and yes crysis does not look as good in motion...tons of object pop and texture pop

Because Fraps kills your frame rate; and there are people in SW daft enough to think the video frame rate = game play frame rate.

That and video hides all the subtle details due to compression.

First the ps3 fanboy post Uc2 pics,then comes the 360 owners posting high brightness multiplat pics and then comes PC fanboys posting Crysis pics thinking they own everything else.

All overrated,all the same,all opinions.

Because either way, there will still be disagreement.

Also not forgetting that console footage for the most part will come from the developers, console users tend not to have the hardware to record from their games.

I agree, the screens are amazing but when I play it, it doesn't really look as good as you would think.

But it still looks better than UC2 just by a little. But I prefer UC2's graphics anyways

Even if it's recorded with a capture card, it'll have to be compressed when uploaded so much of the detail (mainly jaggies and textures flaws) will be covered up by artifacts. Screenshots give you a much better idea of what the game looks like.

I see even in a thread just talking about the comparison method; that some people cannot withheld themselves from taking jabs at Crysis :roll:

also i agree that we should use videos rather then screenshots (but not trailers)

To make games look better than they are, when console gamers don't realize that no console game this gen goes beyond 4xAA and you see screens that have like no jaggies, maybe next gen they'll have 8xAA-16xAA, etc., even though PC is already doing those along with 24xAA and such.

Seeing a game in motion always represent more what a game looks like, they are video games after all.;)

A little while back I had a go at scaling Crysis down for cheap hardware, something someone with a 8800GT and a dual core could run at 1080p. I was putting to the test the claim that Crysis graphics are only worth it on high end hardware, something you get from people trying to downplay the value of its visuals by painting it as something only the minority can run.

Needless to say the frame rate was destroyed during recording. The file ended up being compressed from 307mb to 36mb; resulting in smudgy dark colours that didn't represent what the raw AI had recorded.

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of console people in SW get their Crysis impression through highly compressed/low FPS videos like this, they really aren't representative of the on screen experience.

Fixed. The object pop and texture pop problems that were so popular when Warhead came out, ended up being because of the hardware these people where using and not the game itself. Use better hardware and you will get the usual pops of these kind of big open area games.

I missed these posts. Basically this. Also you can't embed videos on GS forums, so most people use pics on their posts. A wall of pics looks better than a wall of links.

Because, when you look at the videos, everything looks kind of same-ish. With still pics, you claim pwnage easily, with videos, you have to ask the potential pwnee to pause the video exactly at 1:37 and see the slightly inferior texture on a rope that can be seen for half a second.

It's just not the same.

Easier to compare pictures... it's also easier to nitpick with them.SaltyMeatballs

If you don't have the hardware to run it on then yes there would be object and texture popping in. Otherwise it looks great in motion.

Crysis doesn't look good in motion? Since when? The game is much more impressive in real time than in pics.
