BOTH PS3 and 360 would be selling better if Wii didn't exist.

You cannot honestly say that both PS3 and 360 would be just the same if Nintendo didn't create the Wii. I'd be just downright ridiculous to think that.

If Wii had no impact on the sales of the other two, then 360 would being rolling in sales because PS3 is doing so terrible.

It doesn't matter who they're trying to appeal to, they are all major video gaming consoles. It's like saying you can't compare Michael Vick to Payton Manning. Although they are two completely different types of QBs, we can still compare them and probably say Payton Manning did better than Michael Vick last year.

People who try to exclude Wii from the competition are just sour about being beat so badly. Period.

Why can't I say that? People will buy what they want, period. Look at the demographic that the Wii is mainly targeting. Including in targeting gamers there are a lot of non-gamers as well that buy the Wii. Those people aren't going to buy PS3's or 360's. You also have to take in account that a $600 machine doesn't appeal to the masses, period.

If the Wii didn't exist things would still pretty much be the same. PS3 expensive with little games and 360 still on its nice steady pace.

Not really. Your model is a bit lacking. One can say that by opening a convenience store you are affecting the revenues of Wal-Mart.

BTW PS3 > Michael Vick > Payton Manning > 360 > PSP > DS > Gamecube >Wii :D

Yea, excpet it's not that extreme.  There's an exfect on Wal-mart but it is not a very profound.  Wii's presence is having a VERY profound effect on the sales of PS3 and 360. So I don't see where you're coming from.

I disagree mostly. If the Wii didn't exist , the ps2 would see the biggest increase in sales right now.

I'm not talking about that; I am commenting on the TC's model.

Also, not all convenience stores are destroyed, are they? There's too many of them, and some of them are doing really good :)

The thing is, you did not mention this 'degree of profoundness' in your post. And also, 'very profound' is not a very good way to describe someting. The term 'very profound' is extremely relative. Therefore, numbers would be nice :)

Hah. Unholymight clearly did not understand the point. Walmart competes with convience stores. If I buy something from a convience store then I have not bought it from walmart. Yes, the wii is getting some people who might never have gotten any gaming system but they are also getting ALOT of people who would have bought, or have already bought systems. You then have to say that the wii sales are effected 360/ps3 sales. Also consider some people own two consoles. If the wii was not there it would be 360/PS3. Now its the wii and one of the others. Clearly the wii is affecting sales.

See this is what I don't get AT ALL.  Cows and Lemmings somehow think that all Wiis sales are just add on to what would normally have been there.  Yes, Wii appeals more to casual gamers but not everyone who buys a Wii is a casual gamer.  And then Cows and Lemmings automatically think that everyone that buys their systems are "hardcore" when there are PLENTY of casual gamers for both system.  As much as Wii?  Of course not. But you guys act like hardcore gamers buy 360s and PS3s, and casuals buy Wiis with no cross over.

Sorry  ATM Wii is winning, and it's just consistant damage control from everyone else.

All of this was summarizing a point that I've already pointed out. I said that anything can affect 360/ps3 sales but neither the TC or you used better terms to describe this 'degree of influence' than 'very profound'.

The term damage control is highly shallow and is usually used when the poster does not have anything better to say. Damage control does not say whether the other party is responding with comments that are legitimate or smply making things up. I believe there is a big difference between a legitimate comment and a made-up story.

You know what I mean.  Your anology doesn't work because if anything Wii is the Wal-mart and PS3 and 360 are the convenience stores, not the other way around.  And Walmart can put a convenience store  out of business.

So if that perspective you sorta support my point.

No, this is actually where we have a difference of understanding.

I do not know what you mean. You should explain what you mean.

Your 'analogy of my anology' also does not work because you seem to have misunderstood it. You see, my analogy was to point out your failure of describing the degree of impact of the influence.

In what world is michael vick better than peyton manning. Peyton has the numbers, the prestige, 2 mvp awards, records, superbowl ring, superbowl mvp, character. Peyton owns Vick. No contest.
