For the PC gamer, there isn't anything to be hyped about for the rest of 2010.

I finished Mafia 2 yesterday, and despite the awful ending, I liked the game. It was quite good.

However, it seems that Mafia 2 will be the last major release for me this year. A lot of games have been delayed until 2011 (like Dragon Age 2, Crysis 2, Shogun 2, etc.) and there doesn't seem to be any major multiplatform or PC-only release coming out later this year.

Yes, I am aware that Civilization V and Call of Duty: Black Ops are coming out soon, but I am not really interested in those titles. Civilization looks like a niche game, and well, I am getting bored of the whole Call of Duty thing.

Of course, PS3 owners have GT5 and other exclusives to be excite about, and Xbox 360 owners will have Halo Reach and Fable 3, among other exclusives. Where does that leave the PC gamer?

There is one game that I have a slight interest in, and that is Medal of Honor. But no way will I buy that game until the price goes down.

Fable 3 is on PC as well.. and you basically twisted facts to fit your argument.

Saying it has stuff to be hyped about but then saying it's not stuff you wouldn't hype doesn't change the fact there's stuff to be hyped about. Civ5 is not really a niche title and if you consider it to be one well that's one huge selling niche title.

Amnesia, Civilization V, R.U.S.E, FFXIV (beta was delayed, but I think the final game is still on track), FIFA 2011, Dead Rising 2, Black Ops, New Vegas, Cataclysm, Elemental.

Plus there are a few more coming. I believe all these are still on track for this year, though I could be wrong.

I'm not buying New Vegas until I have finished Fallout 3. Unfortunately, due to spending too much time browsing for mods and messing around in the wasteland, I haven't quite been able to even do the very first quest.

Civilization V a niche game? Where am I? What is this? And I'd like to point out that: R.U.S.E., Final Fantasy XIV Online, F1 2010, Dead Rising 2, Arcania: Gothic 4, Medal of Honor, Fallout: New Vegas, Fable III, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, DC Universe Online, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit are still coming for the PC this year, and that's ONLY some big mainstream titles. If they fall into your taste or not does not matter, but to say that a PC gamer has nothing left to look forward to for 2010 is pure bologna.

Civilization a niche title?

A game that goes multi-platinum every release? It's anything, but niche. It's one of PC's most famous franchises.

I like how an argument for PC gaming is that the lack of games is fine because everyone still plays them. If thats a major reason, then why even bother with new games when Counter Strike and WoW are still being played so much?

Excuse the offense which I may have caused, but I have never played Civilization. Not that I am unaware of its impact, however.

My labeling of Civilization V as "niche" is slightly misguided.

Again, what lack of games is that? You probably mean the 360,a system that doesn´t have even one AAAE game this year and only two AAE(Alan Wake and Deathsmiles).

They delayed it a couple of months (probably to give the 360 version the holiday sale advantage).

Even though I might end up buying it for both the PC and PS3.. Im looking forward to FIFA 11 on PC:D

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EA's released the first screenshots for FIFA 11 on the PC featuring big money earners like Ashley Cole, David Villa and Nicolas Anelka.

Some PC players might be thinking, "hold on, these actually look nice," and the reason is because FIFA's latest PC instalment is finally on par with the console engine.

This is the first time a PC FIFA game has been given next-gen visuals. Until now PC users have had to make do with PS2-era engine versions of EA's footy sim.

Have a look and taste the difference. FIFA 11 will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, PS2, DS, PSP and mobile on October 1 in Europe.

See EA's key features list below:

* Next Gen Soccer Engine: The physics-based, data-driven technology behind the EA SPORTS soccer engine has been optimized for PC. Experience true freedom on the pitch with individuality of player control and movement, sophisticated ball touches, and physical interaction between players.

* Next Gen Gameplay: The high quality gameplay, innovative game modes and stunning graphics that have made FIFA the highest rated sports game on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and winner of over 50 sports game of the year awards arrives on PC.

* Virtual Pro: Live out the fantasy of being a real life player by creating yourself in game with a 3D head using Game Face. Play as yourself across any mode. Grow your player attributes through 230 accomplishments and take your Virtual Pro online to become a global superstar.

* Customizable Set Pieces - Design and record your very own free kicks and corners for use on match day. Assign a specific run or movement to every outfield player on your team one at a time, and then combine them for the perfect set piece. Record, test and perfect them in the Practice Arena, then trigger in game.

* Practice Arena-Work on individual and team skills in a fully featured practice mode before stepping on the pitch. Select the number of attackers and defenders you want in play (eg 11v11, 5v5, or even 5v3), and practice in open play or from set pieces.

* 360 Dribbling-The market-leading true 360 dribbling system improves dribbling control from 8 directional to full 360 control. Players can now find spaces between defenders that previously were not possible.

* Skilled Dribbling-Next gen animation warping technology provides unprecedented control. Skilled players now have the ability to face a defender and use highly-responsive lateral dribbling to skip past him.

* Physical Play- New next gen collision sharing technology creates a varied, less predictable, and extended fight for possession between the dribbler and a defender.

* Player Urgency-Improved urgency AI logic, with over 50 next gen movement cycles, delivers more intelligent positioning and awareness so your players stay focused on the ball and move at a speed appropriate to the action.

* Advanced Attacking -Players analyze space more effectively, curve runs to create passing lanes and vary attacking options.

* Improved Defending Options - Defenders multi-task and play more intelligently by covering dangerous spaces left by out-of-position teammates. Better effort clearance logic, such as sliding to block crosses and overhead kick clearances, give defenders more tools to prevent goal-scoring opportunities.

* Goalkeeper Intelligence -Goalkeepers now have more urgency and better perception of where to intercept loose balls, resulting in a more responsive and powerful rushing system. New animation warping technology provides game-realistic goalkeeper positioning and momentum, resulting in more varied scoring opportunities.

* LAN Play - Host LAN parties and play friends online without being connected to EA servers.

* PC Tools - Innovations to improve the experience, including VOIP support and lobbies for match-making by skill and geographical location.

* Football World Integration-Go to easportsfootball.com to create your Game Face, search out rivals on global PC Leaderboards and create a PC-specific Friends Lists.

* Stunning Next Gen Graphics-High quality renders that bring every player on the pitch to life, plus 62 different stadiums.

* Complete Authenticity -Over 30 officially licensed leagues, 500 licensed teams and more than 15,000 players.

Had you spent the time actually researching before making this thread... then it wouldn't have been necessary.

It is the successor to the Penumbra series... three games among the greatest of the horror genre.

Civilization looks like a niche gameThe_Capitalist

LOL! Civilization IV alone sold over 3 million copies. That does not constitute "niche."

Also, you should give it a try. Maybe the ADHD-afflicted who only play high-action games won't like it, but I think just about anyone else will. Just takes a little time to get into.

I'm sorry, but you claim Civ is niche and you're only interested in MoH? You're entitled to your opinion, but you hardly are a model PC Gamer.

Especially since most likely Civ 5 will more than than any other game you've mentioned (on PC of course)

So apparently you can't enjoy 'niche titles' and somehow they are completely discredited. So yeah you call console gaming 'hardcore gaming' right?

My labeling of Civilization V as "niche" is slightly misguided.

Clearly your whole opinion is misguided.

In what world is Civilization a niche game?
