PS3

Pros: All come with HDD, Updates quite frequently, Free online, Blu ray player, Built in Wifi, Quiet, Future proof, Great games out right now like MGS4, Motorstorm, LBP, R2, and Uncharted.

Cons: Out of the box it is the most expensive, Updates can take quite long to download, Sometimes Multiplatforms games aren't as good as the 360s,

360

Pros: Great online community, Inexpensive, Great Games like Gears, Halo, Forza, Mass Effect, Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead, Lots of great arcade games, They come with headsets, 3 year warranty.

Cons: RROD, Online is $50 a year, Loud system, Disks can get scratched, Doesn't update too often, Wifi adapter costs $100,

Both systems IMO have their strengths and weaknesses. I personally think its just preference to which one you get. IMO though I would get a PS3 because of the blu ray player, but like I said you cant really go wrong with either system.

i'd go for the 360 for the better overall videogame library.

Blu-ray? upconverting DVD is good enough for me.

Plus, you'd be better off waiting til the PS3 price drops, since that is inevitable.

Also, with the PS3 in last place the 360 going forward will have the better library from 3rd party support, Thus the reason why FFXIII, tekken, SO4, and other PS brand games have crossed over.

ANd if you're an RPG fan and want to play RPGS right now, the 360 at 199 is the way to go.

Whether or not the PS3 will start getting RPG's in droves (its been 2 years without a significant traditional RPG in sight) is up to whether you believe or not that the PS3 will catch up to the 360 within a year.

I dont think the bigger library argument for the 360 should count anymore. Few people go out and buy every game they find interesting. If I did I would have 60 ps3 games but I have a budget so I own 10. So not many people are going to be able to go through every good game available for their system. Both systems have great games.

If you like shooters, get ps3, if you like variety get 360.

All comes down to that.

You forgot to add that you must buy a Compenant(sp?) or HDMI cable for the PS3 to do HD. Kinda pointless for a blu-ray player to be a pro when you have that huge con right there.

You can find them for around twenty dollars. I don't see that as a HUGE con at all.

It is when Sony actively promotes the Ps3 as being a HD gaming console and a HD blu-ray player, yet it cannot even do 480p out of the box.. can't even do ED out of the box. Whats that say to you?

Not everybody owns an HDTV.

When I found out I needed to buy an HDMI cable, I got kinda pissed about it, but with a lil analysis I came up with that conslusion... and guess what?? Sony is right. By the time I got my Ps3 I didn't have an HDTV.

And yet you miss my point, Its advertised as an HD console and an HD movie player. It doesn't matter what kind of TV you have, its not advertised as a gaming console.. but as a HD gaming console. Not as a DVD player, but as a HIGH DEF Blu-Ray player.

Well, in that case I agree: Sony should add the HDMI cable... and a Bravia too.

Sony should do what Microsoft does, include both the comp. cable and AV cable. That way people, who do own a HDTV, can enjoy your new $400-$500 purchase out of the box instead of having to pay extra.

Can you please tell me of any blu-ray player, HDtv, console, computer, or anything that is capable of producing or receiving HD images that includes an HDMI cable in the box? So what exactly is your point? And you can't afford a $6 cable? If you can't afford a $6 cable, you probably can't afford that fancy bluray player, or 360, or HDTV, or receiver that decodes master audio, etc.

Not really, because I would still buy my $6 HDMI cable. You cannot get master audio through component cables. And why use analog cables when everything you are using is digital. The problem is people actually use component and think it is just as good as HDMI because it can support 1080p. I hate to break it to you, but there is so much more than just the resolution. There are more colors, lossless audio, etc. It is all about bandwidth and component does not have enough.

Actually, what MS, Sony, and all HD devices should do is include a freaking HDMI cable. It would only cost them about $4 to do. Then they could also help put Monster out of business for ripping people off on $300 HDMI cables that offer no performance gains over the $4 cables.

Very true. Makes no sense to tout your device as HD and then not make it HD out of the box. And again, GameSpot, my HTML is formed well.

Actually, the PS3 can. And really with the 360 not having blu-ray or master audio--component cables are most likely suitable. However, where I disagree with your point is to include component cables with the PS3. They are not adequate. I want to take advantage of all the features it has to offer, and I cannot with component cables.

Personally, I'd just grab an N64 if it came down to that; Ocarina and Mario 64 were both better than their Wii iterations anyway. ;) But the VC is a pretty sweet thing to have, I'll admit; it's one of the only reasons I still turn on my Wii.

Since I own systems I think right now the 360 is the better buy because it has more titles out right now that I like. Now however I don't think I am going to touch my 360 in 09 because of the amazing PS3 line up and the addictive PC (Sc2, Diablo 3, Empire) games.

Now the point of what I said is this look at the games out and that are coming out make a list of games that you are dying to play for each system, which ever has the most or your favorites get it. The only person who can say which system is better is yourself. You could do a pro and con list a mile long but if that system doesn't have games you want to play, then that console is pretty worthless.

Just get a 360, has a vastly bigger game library, and gets vastly more games in 2009 too, link below

Are you really saying that the PS3's biggest con is that it doesn't come with a cable that you can get separately for $10. If thats the case then according to that the PS3 is the greatest system ever made, and I really can't recall seeing any Sony advertisements that only mention that its the "HD console". The only advertisements I've ever seen were mainly for games that are on the PS3 and are capable of HD.

Wow at people trying to say PS3 is not a HD console because Sony don't give you a component cable with it. I own a PS3 and a 360 and can tell you the build quality of the PS3 is in another league compared to the 360. It also has free online (out of the box) unlike your amazing 360 that has NO ONLINE GAMING OUT OF THE BOX, my 360 also came without a hard drive when I got it, MS release consoles that require add ons to get the best out of them, Sony do not. My PS3 came with a dual shock controller, 80GB hard drive, wireless network adaptor, and free online play.

If you want to keep up this argument about a cable be my guest, it's only you who looks foolish.

You forgot to add that you must buy a Compenant(sp?) or HDMI cable for the PS3 to do HD. Kinda pointless for a blu-ray player to be a pro when you have that huge con right there.dotWithShoes

An HDMI cable is like 6 bucks. Component are cheap too
