I need to justify the purchase to my accountant.
Thanks in advance.

Right now, my only complaint is the somewhat lacking library of softwares.NWA_31
What about the controllers, I hear they drop the signal alot during gaming. Is that true?
Not enough games...yet.DuDisNow
The games will come.
I just want to know if there are issues that are annoying, besides the current lack of games.
I just don't want to regret my purchase.

Nope. At least, it never happened to me.
The only controller that did that was my Xbox 360 controller, when the battery is low. I am using the SIXAXIS, by the way, I don't know about the new Dual Shock 3.
The library is sub par and more over if you have a gaming rig. The system itself is pretty sweet. Functions well as a blu ray player. The controller is fine and have no problems, the battery life is excellent compared to the 360 controller.
If you can wait, maybe wait for MGS4? If you don't have a 360, get a PS3 I guess so you don't miss GTA 4 then MGS.

I was thinking of getting the MGS4 bundle. Do you know if it comes with 2 controllers? Because 499 sounds like I should be getting an extra controller.

If you are worrying about the hardware, everything is pretty reliable. On top of that, it is very silent and has a nice look.
Playstation Network used to be confusing, but luckily for you, they just fixed that problem a couple of days ago with an update.
I love my ps3 alot but its just to sterile its just boring I like it more than my 360 it just feels like it has no community ands its not unified all of it services just dont mix well together it needs STRUCTUREJacboy71
That may good for some games.
Hey are there a ton of music downloads on the Sony store?

Nope, but it comes with one Dual Shock 3 controller, instead of a SIXAXIS. I hear that it's already sold out, though.

Not a lot of downloads. Don't buy one , take my advice.I really think you should wait for the MGS4 DS3 PS3 bundle in June. Atleast then, the negative of having a controller without rumble and the negative about the PS3 not having a killer app might be out the window.
Also some negatives might be PSN. Sure it's free and decent, but when you try out the other console online gaming service, you realize how much the PSN needs to catch up. Also finding people to play with online is really inconsistant. I mean say you buy a game that isn't really popular to most but you enjoy, the chances of you finding other people with the same game taste as you might be slim, because the PS3 install base still isn't up there.
Also these weekly updates and installations might be annoying.

I figured out how to stop that problem. I had it happen frequently. What I do is have a 4 port charger that charges 4 controllers 24/7. When the controller drops control it's always a while after I've been playing. I just go grab a new one out of the charger and press the PS button and assign theat one to the controller number that the one was that I've been playing with and it wont drop off for a long time. It has something to do with the battery needing to be close to full charge or the controller get its signal messed up some how. Either way this is a very effective way around that problem. My Stardust scores have jumped by over 100 million points since figuring it out.
Well there are too many games to buy... I don't know if I'll ever catch up... But some may say that's a good thing :D
Also the SIXAXIS controller is a tad light, but I hear the DS3 is basically perfect though!
And my two SIXAXIS controllers have never dropped while playing, and always seem repsonsive :D

See that gets me.
A PS3 now is 399 with a controller(sixaxis) plus game( MGS4) is 459 usd.
Whats the extra 40 bucks for?

It's never dropped in the time I've had it; never heard of it occuring to anyone else either.
As for negatives, customization of the XMB could use some beefing up. It's not a big deal, but I would like it if I could tweak the fonts, the layout, and so on and so forth.
XMB? Whats that?

The dual shock 3 is out so that rules out the too light controller. I explained above how to get around the drop off prob with the controller. Tons of games are out with more coming in all the time. The PS store just got overhauled. There really are no concrete negatives to owning a PS3.

Sounds like it huh?
Wait till 2009 to pick one up after all the 2008 games hit the shelfs and are reviewed.
Trust me, you don't want to be stuck with a POS. So give it some time... Because it isn't worth it right now. Sony knows this and are playing catch up.

40 more gigs , backwards compatibility , memory slots , 2 extra usb ports. One heck of a deal , but by the time the mgs4 bundle hits I think the $399 ps3 will get dropped in price because of the value of the MGS4 bundle (i believe i read that it also comes with a voucher for the downloadable game PAIN).But don't buy one.
hmm u cant charge the controllers unless the system is on....
cant add more then one song to a playlist at a time

...or he could just get one now and enjoy the games as they come? And enjoy the current games? And not consider it a "POS" just because your biased opinion does? Who probably doesnt even own one?

Does it have alot of songs? I would think so with Sony BMG.

Cross Media Bar. Basically, it's the menu of the PS3, from which any games, music, videos, or pictures in the system can be accessed, as well as the PlayStation Network, and of course, settings for the console.
This is the XMB:
Looks pretty slick.

How about the bitterness is strong... I wounder how Sony got this far into the business the way they operate. I never owned a PS1 or a PS2.... But I own a PS3 and I am ticked.
So call me a fanboy if you want. I am very unhappy and I feel obligated to save people from a bad purchase decision.

My 60GB has one built in. :P
I love GOW and GOWII... If it wasn't for the PS2 function my PS3 would have been gone along time ago.
Only reason why I got a PS3 so early was because the 60GB model was being fazed out just like the 20GB.

Controlers are perfectly fine.
Lack of solid softwares is the true issue with the ps3 right now.
