For those of you who were able to pick up Galaxy, how would you compare it in terms of fun fact against such hits as Bioshock, Halo 3, COD4 and any of the other greats this year? Also in what ways would you change it if you could?

Its a must own titles like said examples you listed.. Change one thing, make the game so it doesn't ever end.
to the casual gamer its the best thing around by far.
but Gears of War, COD4 and Bioshock are better games for the people who have been playing games longer mostly just older people and more hardcore gamers who line multiplayer and what not.
mario is still awesome there is no denying it.
Do you really expect them to compare Galaxy to 3 games that are not on the Wii? They are sheep for a reason.pins_basic
We play and own different games..
Not trying to derail the thread, but being into multi-player and shooters does not make you hardcore, if there is such a thing. :|to the casual gamer its the best thing around by far.

I've been playing games sense 1993. I don't agree. I don't like games that are multiplayer and online... Im not trying to "own" people when I play games.

just because you are a nintendo fan does not mean you only own nintendo consoles. older nintendo fans are old enough to enjoy all kinds of games on all kinds of systems.
now back to the original poster.
galaxy in my opinion is as good as or a bit better than bioshock. i use bioshock because i did not really enjoy halo 3 outside of the campain, i am not a big fan of the call of duty series although i know it is a very well made series. it just does not do it for me. i tried playing 2 and 3 and i never could get into them.
but i loved bioshock. i thought it was a great game (except for the endings.)
but galaxy is maybe a hair better when it comes to over all game enjoyment. and that is probably because i have not played a good paltformer since pshyconaughts and before that sunshine. platformers are few and far between now days. and for older gamers like myself we were raised on them. so it is nice to have a great one come out now and then. r and c is good mind you i enjoy it alot but galaxy is just freaking great. it has that almost frustrating difficulty at times that remains enjoyable. that kind of difficulty when you know you can make the jump but the platforms are moving under your feet so you have to time it jsut right in order to make it. it is great. i am at 90 stars and i cant wait to get the next 30 so i can start over as luigi and see how different the game is with his slippery feet and higher jumps.
so all in all it compares well to those games in my opinion.
but i suppose some of us are not lucky enough to be able to own all three systems because we are too blinded by fanboyism to buy more than one name brand.

indeed. when i am xboxlive or psn i swear the amount of teens and preteens that say "pown" "own" and "stylin" is about unberable. i jsut unplug my headset if i am not playing with freinds.
i hate that so many companies are making these huge multiplayer games and forgeting single player all the time. that is one reason i loved bioshock is because of its great single player!
It's easlily one of then best games I;ve ever played, though I don't own a 360 or PS3 so won't make any judgements there.
The games a joy from top to bottom. There a few minor grievances, AT FIRST, the upside down platforming is disorienting. And after 20 years of gaming I'm still not used to the idea of intentionally running off the edge of a platform like you do in galaxy, but you get used to it. The skating is a little annoying though and there were several times I skated to my death without really wanting to skate at all. But thats about it.

I was going to say that.
Playing games with guns doesn't make you sooo hard core. Lol.
I think Galaxy compares to bioshock because they are both single player, but theres a big difference.
Bioshock is more realistic and atmospheric than Mario
while mario is more laid back and more relaxing type of game.
They are both really good games except mario is longer and that's y I have to say it's better
Halo 3 single player isnt as strong as galaxy's or bioshocks and I havent play COD4.
Halo 3 Multiplayer is really fun if you havent played over 2,000 games on halo 2 (which I have)

well for one, the level design was unlike anything ive seen in any of those games
not to knock bioshock, the environment is great in that game, but its not really a driving factor for gameplay
and another thing i noticed is boss battles... there are a lot and theres a variety, unlike most other games ive played this year
i would say honestly, if you're looking for fun, that's where galaxy shines
if youre looking for competition or an unforgiving challenge you might wanna look else where
with bioshock it wasnt really hard but a lot of the fun was sucked out when i was consumed with trying to take the best photos
and my main complaint with halo3 is just that.. they created all these new weapons and vehicles and give you like 1 chance to use each thing
so without being biased, i have to admit i'm really enjoying galaxy more than any other game this year (but to be fair, i dont play multiplayer games much anymore)
