Forespoken gets worse every time it's mentioned.

... First it was the announcement... Looked shockingly unoriginal. A new ip (Yay!) that looked entirely generic (boo).

....then they showed gameplay, which I don't know if it was leaked or they wanted us to see it like that, but goodness it looked terrible. Huge bland world with nothing to do but run for ten minutes until strafe firing in a big circle around hordes of bad guys. Bland and unoriginal confirmed (at least up to this point....)

Then they announce today that it's stuffed with microtransactions! (ugh...)

Best thing it has going for it is its Sony console exclusive obligatory hype, which can do wonders for many games, just look how far that got Abandoned before the demo biffed it.

Honestly I will be shocked when a major title does not have microtransactions.

I just listened to the "How Did This Get Played" podcast episode about this game, and...I kind of want to play Balan Wonderworld. It sounds like "The Room" of gaming.

Will get a 6/10. Some sites will praise it because of a female lead. Imagine praising a shitty game because you're playing as a (black?) woman instead of focusing on what matters when reviewing a video game.

This hasn't even happened yet, but i am already triggered🤬

@hardwenzen: Seems a little extreme.... I think by now we know the reviewers and sources that have earned good reputations for giving thoughtful gaming reviews. It's likely fringe sites or non gaming sites that give the more politically/societally charged reviews. Don't be triggered, just don't give them a click. Stick to reviewers that focus on the game.

Other than its visuals and gameplay, what I find appealing is that the story is written by screenwriters such as Amy Hennig and Gary Whitta, and has a different direction than traditional narratives such as the FF series.

@hardwenzen: Yea. Something like Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (ignoring shitty gameplay) obliterates this in visuals.

But the voice acting and actual dialogue is soooo bad. Ears melting bad.

First time we saw it I thought it looked interesting last time we saw it I was sold. Now because of the micro transactions I am not sure now disappointing to hear they got to put that trash into the game.

@hardwenzen: I'm not saying I'm hype but I'm hype. What can I say, I like anything with Spellcaster characters so Forespoken has peek my interest. It's a new IP game I wanna try it out. I'm hoping it all turns out well.

I like what i have seen so far of it. It looks like it could be a fairly relaxing game to play after work. Navigating the world looks fun too and combat looked fine...nothing special or anything.

The voice acting is a bit OTT and the music....well it fits in with sonys usual "wailing for drama" music even though this is a SE game :P. but neither is a deal breaker.

MTX is a concern though and Square are clearly having a laugh on the price (€80? seriously? and it has MTX? ....seriously?).

i'll still keep an eye out for reviews though.

We'll, firstly I want it to be clear that I have zero issue with the protagonist. There's really no such thing as a bad character, only bad writing. Video games tend to be a prime medium for bad writing, but I degress...

For me, it was that 8 minute gameplay video that released a few weeks ago. Granted I'm judging on a pre released Game but what they showed looked reaaally off the mark to me... Long segments of running in a barron world, combat that looks to be underwhelming... Another radial wheel skill/spell exchange with brain dead enemies. It all looks so very generic and off the mark. Mix in the price tag and the aforementioned micro transactions (another Staple of our time) I just expect more than what they've shown.

I'd love to see new ip take a few risks. This is a premium priced experience with seemingly not an original idea to speak of.

After looking at the latest trailer, (And didn't notice its gonna be M 7 here I thought it was fitted for a T but that's besides the point) VA is poor, but I'm a sucker for spellcasters in games, buuuut, I'm cautiously optimistic. As I said before, the gameplay looks fun, but the world looks pretty drabby I'll admit. I'm not the type of gamer to complain about open-worlds being stretches of nothing, but this one....and then the cities also looks lackluster. Hopefully when more is done and ready to be shown, it will look decent enough...I hope.

And here's another thing I notice @BassMan brought up. The framerate is usually one of the final things to get tightened up. If they really ship a PS5 game with a bad framerate, that’ll be one heck of a failure on SE part and I do plan to get it on PC so I wouldn't have to worry about this. After seeing everyone's opinion here, I'll just do the right thing and wait for reviews before I buy. I support new IP games...if they are worthy of course.

A mediocre looking, derivative, 3rd person open world action game for 80 euros. And microtransactions on top of that. I simply can't wait for this amazing deal.

Given how frequently she uses acrobatics, as shown in that video. I wonder how grating it will be her shout over and over while actually playing the game, especially if this game goes on for 20+ hours.

If we look at say... Link, his acrobating grunts are kept low for a reason.
