http://news.filefront.com/microsoft-covering-up-forza-2-crash-forum/

I reported yesterday on the threads popping up in the official Forza 2 forums claiming that Forza 2 is causing the Xbox 360 to crash. Apparently, now Microsoft has taken steps to cover up the forum that has gained massive attention in the past 24 hours.

In what appears to be an effort to conceal the over 900 repliesgamers provided on the official Forzamotorsport.net forums about Forza Motorsport 2 crashing on the Xbox 360, Microsoft has deleted the long thread, now stating that it's "exclusive content for registered forum users" only. However, the thread was removed entirely, even to registered members. This comes after the thread was revealed and reported on yesterday, gaining plenty of attention. In the thread, hundreds of gamers posted their stories on what happened to the 360 when playing Forza 2, and expressed frustration, anger, and disappointment.

ouch! MS could be forced by law to recall the 360 if this keeps up. and that would mean ms would have to exit the console race.

Hopefully they will have to recall it, no company should be allowed to sell a product as unreliable as that.

Whew damn im glad I didnt buy the game, ill wait for GT5. MS been hiding alot of things from us, but we all know that the xbox 360 was a rushed console, and still after almost 2 years there are alot of problems with the system. Hopefully they fix that.

While I think it's highly unlikely, My 360 died yesterday playing Guess what? Forza 2.

here's the thing, That's all I've been playing lately and if you ask other people they will probably say the same. I think it's just a coincidence. The 360 is just a shoddy piece of hardware.

You do not issue a mass product recall just because the hardware has a tendency to fail. There are millions of Xbox 360s out there that work perfectly fine. This would be an extremely stupid and unnecessary move by Microsoft, and they would never be forced and required by law to issue a recall because of it.

The only way Microsoft will recall Xbox 360s is if there is some kind of major safety concern. Then Microsoft would have to act.

The onlyproblemI've ever had with my 360 is sometimes when I turn it on, I only get a bunch of Japanese writing and it won't do anything else. But then if I turn it off, then on again, there's no problem. I haven't tried Forza though, but it doesn'tinterest me. The trailer I've seen of it was really unimpressive.

I think so too. Forza is a popular game, and this stuff takes place on a forum where people go to talk about one specific game. I have Forza as well and my 360 died recently, though I wasn't playing the game at the time :P. I never had any problems or crashes with the Forza game or demo though.

I agree. The console has an amazing lineup for being on the market for just a year and a half, it's a real shame that the hardware makes it impossible for some people to enjoy it.

So Sony pays people to join a Forza forum and complain about crashes? :|

You know...back at the 360 launch some of the unprofessional Xbox websites were reporting that Sony was paying people to spread rumours about faulty consoles.....and we all know how that turned out.

Well, MS maybe shouldn't have deleted the posts. Now, if they detected a similar IP address, that would be different. I wonder if MS has received many calls about this.

-Ninja_Dog-

There is a flaw in the code that could cause a number of issues, the biggest being a memory leak and when you only have 512mbs of ram to work with, a memory leak could easily cause a quick crash.

Or some people have had problems with Forza 2 depending on their system setup and what is on their harddrives. I tihnka patch could solve the problem easily.

Sorry, could not resist.

That really sucks though, gamers should not be having their consoles crash when they play a game, there is obviously some poor coding going on or there is a serious design flaw in the 360, but then again, it is made by Microsoft, so no one should be suprised that the 360 has problems if they have used WindowsVista.

Yes, because Windows is a universal standard for computer operating systems, there really is not much of an alternative aside from the numerous Linux distro's and Mac OSX (which Mac computers are not cheap). I think a lot of people know that Windows has some bugs, Vista especially but I think now XP is a great operating system, once you have a computer powerful enough to run it efficiently then there should not be any problems.

Interesting thing with Vista is that only certain games cause problems. With me it's STALKER andTitan Quest. Neither of which are the best coded in the world. TQ even experiences slowdowns on dual or quad core machines. However things like DOOM 3, C&C 1st Decade, Oblivion, Tomb Raider Anniversary etcrun flawlessly. Vista is buggy bt not as bad as many people make out, for the most part it's having problems with the way some (but not all) games are coded.

But yes, Forza 2 crash's alot for me. mostly online, I don't know if it has somthign to do with people using all these crazy paint jobs ? or what, but random freeze's and crashing sucks, and it only happens for me in Forza 2, nothing else.

0wn3dTwice

Yes it does matter. If the 360 is causing fires, for example, Microsoft would have to recall it. Sony issued a recall on those laptop batteries, remember? That would be the only reason to issue a product recall. It's electronics, it can get hot, and if it causes fires Microsoft would have to do it, lest they be served up with litigations that would cost them billions of dollars, as well as damage to their PR that would cost them billions more in lost sales.

And I don't see how you can use Windows in comparison. Xbox 360 is hardware; MS Windows is software. As such, they are completely different. If there is a software fault with Windows, Microsoft can release a patch for it that people can download and apply. If there is a hardware fault with the Xbox 360, well....it breaks down. You have to get a new one or get it fixed by sending it in for repair. You don't need to send your computer in to apply a patch to Windows.

only thing i can think of is maybe Forza 2 the way it's codded or what ever pushes the 360 to hard at times causing crashes in the hardware. just 1 little quick strain on the hardware can crash it.

My 360 got 3 red lights when i went to watch a DVD-R movie, it took a minute to read it cause you could hear the drive trying to read it like it was dirty or something. it booted up finally but i got a freeze and 3 red lights 10 minutes into the movie. maybe the 360 just couldnt handle something.

i think the graphics chip or memory chips etc.. are designed with a bad flaw that cannot be fix without major changes.

Forza 2 isn't causing 360's to crash...their system dies after downloading the update or playing a certain game and blame it on the update or game...happened to me after downloading an update..my 360 died(red lights of death)...luckily I fixed it myself and now it runs well

Starforce does the same thing to a number of PCs. It's indeed possible.

I don't know if you know this but every corporation is evil, none are exempt. And if MS is really deleting forums then that is truly sad.

lol? What planet are you from?

Games and other types of software cause crashes all the time. Ever heard of the blue screen of death? Videogames usually go through QA before they're released. Doesn't mean bugs don't happen. Ever played DRIV3R? The Rainbow Six Vegas demo had a replicable bug that froze my 360. Plenty of other examples.

I mean, this is nothing new people. Unless I've misunderstood and Forza 2 is claimed to cause hardware failures.
