Forza 3 Sells 1 Million? Maybe Not

According to Microsoft, Turn 10 highly acclaimed sim driving game Forza 3 has surpassed 1 million copies sold. But if you consider that Forza 3 has sold 175.000 (NPD numbers) copies in October and the game wasn't among the top 20 best sellers of November, you will understand that there is something wrong. Read on to understand more.

I know that NPD numbers are US numbers only -UK, JP, and the rest of the world are excluded- But for Forza 3 to achieve 1 million copies sold, the game has had to sell at least 300,000 copies in the US, and an equal or a better number in UK and in the rest of the world in November, isn't that so?


Take a look at NPD top 20 best sellers of November, where is Forza 3? Have you seen Dragon Age: Origin PS3 version numbers? 177K, and still there is no Forza 3. Could the game had performed much better in UK and in the rest of the world?

According to VGchartz, Forza 3 has passed 1.5 million copies sold with 700k in the US, 760K in Europe and the rest of the world, and 50K in Japan. But if these numbers are correct, then why Forza 3 wasn't listed in NPD top 20 best sellers of Novembers?

I for one totally believe MS would commit an illegal act just so they could brag in SW about how Forza 3 sold over a million copies.

I'm sure the truth is closer to the other guy. MS and turn 10 are no doubt trying to inflate they're numbers to seem like Forza 3 is the greatest thing since apple pie. While it is a great game, GT5 is almost out of the gate (hopefully) and it will surely give Forza a run for its money.

lol. I'm with you. Don't forget they purposely made 360's defective years ago so that they could boost up their sales numbers and don't get me started on the console bans.M$ has probably sold 150 360s....WORLDWIDE!

Wow...I loved Forza up until now. It was one of the best racing games that I've ever played, but now that I found out that it might not have sold 1 million, obviously my view on the game changed. It's no longer fun, and I'll be trading it in ASAP.

IF the price was the biggest thing there would be NO ps3s on market right now because they are 299.99, but that isnt the case.

I noticed that Uncharted 2 is also not in the top 20. Perhaps it has more to do with Modern Warfare 2 being released then exclusives besides NSMBWii.

MS is probably using shipped numbers. I assume they are around 300k in NA and 300+ in the rest of the world. I don't think they sold a million to consumers. Then again, all companies do this.

I am fairly sure it has sold 1 mill+ NPD are afterall for US alone, EUrope generally has a larger userbase of car geeks, if I remember correct the GT games always sold better here aswell. So I am not surprised...

another reason, is that the finances in the US are atill not recovered completely after the economy took a dive, and the EU is pretty much out of it again, leading to a heck of alot of people, breathing easier here and off buying the games they wanted to buy all year.
