Is it me... Or is GT5 looking really sterile in this comparison? 2D trees goes without saying though.Shadow jaggies seem harsher in GT5 too.

That's really weird... GT 5 looks so much better than that video when I play it. I must've gotten a defective copy.
You know the sun? Well it shines off the road surface from time to time :roll:WOW, when did the Top Gear test track get the shiny plastic asphalt, like in Forza 4??
Martin_G_N
It will be a while before we get any direct feed HD comparisons, but that video clearly shows the difference in lighting and the movement of each in cockpit view. All I can say is after playing GT5 pretty extensively, the direct feed gameplay footage I've seen of FM4 has completely blown GT5 out of the water in the graphics (like this one at 4:50 in: http://youtu.be/-Zsuz5F_9NU?t=4m50s).daviwinn
Agreed. I really need more FM4 info to get hyped even more :D

Still something plastic-y about Forza in #4. From what I've seen, I should say. That isn't to say it doesn't look better than GT5 overall. I just think GT5's premium cars seem to have more life-like detail. That is, when you ignore the NES-ish shadow jaggies, LOL
top gear track doesn't use asphalt?
Sun glare doesn't exist in gt5.
MFDOOM1983
Amazing that FM4 is even surpassing GT5 in the graphics depatment too.
Ehh, I was talking about the top gear test track, not some random road somewhere. It just looks like they are making it more shiny to make it look better, rather than making it realistic. I have no doubt that overall Forza 4 will look better than GT5. Martin_G_NBelieve it or not, the sun does occassionally break through the clouds in England, and when it does I can assure you the asphalt it shiny. Stop grasping at straws there friend.

The video I posted disagrees. Forza 4 has the premium car GT5 detail and shaders, better shadow detailAND detailed environments. Plus with the added effect of lighting glistening off the cars. An effect last seen in Sega GT.
Look at the trees on that track... Not only are they in3D... They sway in the wind. It makes the track look alive and less sterile.
Oh no! Cancels pre-order.can anyone spot the Huge Plane in the Forza version?
both times it didn't pop up, where as GT5 it is plain to see. :|

The videos not a 1:1 comparison, the cars are in different places ion the track. Look at 1:52, you can see the plane in FM4. They do appear to be in slightly different spots though, but my experience with planes is that they move from time to time ;) In this video comparison (real life vs FM4) you can see it appears to be in the correct location: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv2TDDQYF8sI might have to pick up a cheap as used 360 to play this game. It will be the only game I get for the console haha.
i assume the people crying for better quality videos aren't hoping GT5 to look any better, have you actually driven around TTGTT in GT5? Better quality video comparisons will only make the difference more obvious :?
hmm what a shame....also i don't see any campervans in Forza 4....can anyone spot the Huge Plane in the Forza version?

oh no wait you can see it in this clip:

although it does seem to be lacking the horrendously low render quality seen in GT5 such as the near-hexagonal engines, but i guess we'll have to make do :(

It's amazing how people will nitpick to the extreme.well, good thing you have never criticized GT5 with any nitpicking.....where as I see alot of Forza fans who do.
besides, wasn't trying to nitpick...I think the fact I couldn't notice the huge plane on the track from that initial footage proves a point some in here have tried to make. That footage is not a good comparison for either game.
thankx racing1750 for the video.

In this comparison the Ferrari 458 in GT5 doesn't blend into the track well. Sun glares should be reflecting off the road too. Of course, the track appears to look more flat in GT5. There are impressive tracks in GT5 though, like Madrid and London for example.
the top gear track is probably the ugliest in the game. Looks worse than the tracks from GT3. Why make a thread?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9469de5FPxc

Well in replays GT beats Forza, but the ingame footage from F4 was impressive. Especialy the shading. But I'm not gonna pass judgment based on a offscreen video.Replay Comparison

The Top Gear Track IS a Premium GT5 track. Since it was created specifically for GT5, like Madrid and London, or Tokyo.

You've got it wrong. GT5 is true to the track.

The track is grey and gets greyer in the sun. The asphalt there is nowhere near as dark and shiny as Forza 4's.
