Four years ago it was a 6! Now it's a 9 because...

Tropical Freeze... 50 dollars on release... a giveaway on Club Nintendo now has higher scores than four years ago for being full price. I've played Zelda on the Wii U's screen and on the Switches... I think most would realize that doesn't justify Nintendo's Wiimakes being full priced titles... not at all actually.

I'm trying to remain a Nintendo fan, but my god it's hard. I played the Wii U so much I literally can not enjoy this system. It seems they would have at least added a hard mode... Nintendo does nothing to honor the Wii U players that would even entertain an additional purchase of one of these.

Not to mention other things are just so rushed and cheaped on this console. From a prototype design... maybe a cheap off brand tablet style -- to the boring spines on the physical games with red border and white text... to the dominoes pizza logo. What is there to like about this thing?

It was very odd that Nintendo decided to add Funky Kong which makes the game easier for new players, but not include new features to entice existing players. Although it's worth noting that despite the topic creator's post, Tropical Freeze does have a hard mode. Maybe you mean harder mode? Although considering what hard mode levels on the player, I don't know what else they could do to make the game harder. Maybe combine the time trial and hard mode into one?

@boycie: Gamespot has typically done a good job of sticking to their guns, but the critics REALLY love these full priced ports... maybe because they get all their games for free... or maybe because Nintendo is encouraging them to focus on the positives. I don't really know, but I think your answer is the easy out. I would like a few examples of a time where they took an older game and reviewed the port higher adding next to nothing and charging full price. Your comment shows a lack of contrast to Gamespot's rich history in doing such things.

Yes... there should definitely be a harder mode to the game, and they give us Funky. Their 10 dollar dlc character to make things nice and easy for noobs... which once again proves my point that they did nothing to honor the players that completed it and purchased it in the past. Gripping it on a Wii U tablet was a lot more satisfying than gripping those flimsy joycons though. That would be the added challenge to this game.

There are so many possibilities... they could add a speed up mode, make enemies invincible... honestly I'm not the creative development at Nintendo; it's their responsibility to do that. But apparentely all they had in their noggins for this port was Funky... something that was more than likely an asset they chose to take out of the Wii U version. This is system wars, not let's see what we could do to make the game better, and I have no interest in finding common ground with people that disagree.

This practice is getting overbearing and I need some sane person out there to agree with me. Why? Because I've made an investment with these crooks. And I'm not getting my money worth from Nintendo at all.

@vgmkyle: The game should have been released at half the price, I feel. Full price is not justified in the new content, but I guess they are marketing the game towards new players rather than existing players.

That being said, the game already has a hard mode and time trial mode (which I think that's what you mean by speed up mode).

Hard mode, which tasks players in getting through levels without taking any hits is unlocked when you beat every level in the game and time trial mode asks the player to speed through levels with very little margin for error. I think, to entice existing players, they should have added more levels that were on the upper spectrum of challenge but I don't feel much time or effort was put into porting this game and making it appeal to existing players. Seems like they are padding out their lineup by porting games from the Wii U for players who may not have owned one.

Because silly, back then GS thought is was a Xbox exclusive. :P

Check out the Dead Rising 3 reviews. The exact opposite occurs for the steam port despite being a better game. Because of different strokes for different folks.

Besides... in most of our minds this game was never a 6.

Because... The game is that good. I'm convinced the original reviewer has never actually played the game. Play it and then read that review. There is nothing in it that describes the way the actual game plays/looks/is.

I like the white on red on the spines. It looks neat in my closet. And the box art is sooo much better than what you find on PS4/XB1

Its' price should remove at least 1.0 from the score in my opinion. I have to pay 60 euros if I want to play this port. Pretty disgusting. I didn't even want an easy mode character, so that sure as hell don't justify this port being even more expensive than the original.

The game is amazing, however, and I really feel like playing it again. So I gotta bite the bullet and pony up the cash with disgust. **** you Nintendo for the price of this game.

It was on Wii U, less people liked the Wii U, whereas people are quite excited by the Switch, maybe that explains the diffetence
