I've been playing the 360 a lot more after selling my gaming PC to a close friend (needed money/putting part of it towords a new rig). Anyway, most of my friends play on the 360 versus the PS3, and I've found out that they all pretty much play Halo and CoD, and nothing else. A few have picked up MoH, which is still a shooter. I mean I love to get my online fps on, but wow, could you live with a whole library of just shooters?

I asked on of them and he said he only plays shooters. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I mean doesn't it get old?

i was pretty much a shooter fiend from doom 1 to Halo CE.

then i became very anti shooter... and hated them all. My friends really liked MW2 and while i didnt quite care for it... it sort of made me open to the shooter genre again. So i decided to invest my time in trying to be good at halo reach (on a gameplay level, the idea of reach is alot more appealing than the idea of COD to me)... and while im not quite in love with shooters again, im somewhat enjoying them, and more open to them now.

Yeah, I will say that shooters get old pretty quickly, but they're the only type of game I can really get into to be honest.

Shooters aren't always like COD and Halo. I think the words you're looking for are "military shooters".

Even though in Halo you're shooting down zombies and aliens but you're still in a military.

what other shooters are there really?

you have games like bioshock, the darkness, and fallout... but really i consider them more hybrid shooters... except maybe bioshock, but i didnt like bioshock at all.

A lot of the big games are shooters. It seems to be the biggest genre on consoles with online multiplayer. Hence why you would see more online fps gaming then say, a beaten up. It may also be just your friends who like fps games. However you can also check their profile and do game comparisons and they may have a list of other genres that are not really online multiplayer. Oh and Fallout is considered more an rpg.

I've played near-exclusively FPS for a while (a month or 2) on my gaming PC, so I can technically do it. I still need my fix of other genres in a while though, which is why I also frequently play games such as Oblivion, Age of Empires, FIFA and a fair share of Mario/Zelda games on the Wii.

80% of my entire library is filled with FPS. Never get tired of them and they are always fun.

Let's see. I was burned out on WW2 FPS a while back. Now, I'm burned out on modern day battlefield FPS. I'll see how Rage, Crysis 2, and Bioshock Infinite fare with reviewers before declaring I'm totally burned out on FPS games yet again.

I really enjoy shooters, but every now and then I like to play an Action Adventure game or a non-shooter RPG.

Same here, hell, I'm playing less FPSs now.

I play a lot of FPS games, but I play a lot of other stuff, too. And I am trying to move away from the genre, to be honest. I have too many. :P

Well I can't personally, but there are people w/ basically just 1 game in their collection. There are people that only play COD, or Halo, or WOW, or Starcraft. If there are people can get by w/ only playing 1 game then people just playing 1 genre doesn't seem too much of a leap.

I only play one or two FPS games a year so no I can't live with a library consisting solely of FPS games.

TC if your friends are only into shooters, and your not them make some new friends. Load up whatever game your into and play it. If it has an online component, then go online and meet some new people.

Seriously why do people continue to complain about shooters. If you don't like them, don't play them. I can't stand fighting games, to me they are mindless. Guess what I don't play them, and if my friends want to play them online, then I just do something else.

I dont like shooters in general. There has to be a specific experience tied to it. I won't just play any shooter, but through the years I have found one here and there that delivers for me: 1)Battlefield 2 and 2142 on the PC gives the all-out war experience with all the vehicles you would want. 2)Star Wars Battlefront did the same for the Star Wars universe. 3) Socom 2 is a classic round-based shooter with unbelievable map experiences rescuing hostages, breaching strongholds, etc. 4) MAG takes the Battlefield concept and pumps it up to 256 players. 5) COD4 was a revolutionary shooter in both graphics and gameplay. 6) Killzone 2 is some of the most intensely focused combat I have ever played. Utter mayhem around the objectives. My gaming tastes can actually be broken into 4 relatively equal genres: shooters, action/adventure, racing, and RTS.

I like to consider myself a FPS vet. In comparison to mainstream FPS gamers, I am one. But in comparison to some of the older hermits on here, I'm nothing.

EDIT: Oh, right, forgot to answer your question. I play almost exclusively FPS.

Unless you're button mashing, fighters are anything BUT mindless. They require so much patience, yet so much competetive edge. Ahhh, they are too extreme for me.

If you think fighters are mindless you are doing it wrong.
