Franchises that would be better off with other developers

There are a lot of franchises that could be far better off in the hands of other developers than they are right now. A depressing number of them, actually. Whether it is because their current developers are doing fuckk all with them, or because the current developer (no longer) has the wherewithal to be able to do the original vision and fans' expectations justice, there are some franchises that could be far better off in the hands of some other developers than they are doing right now.

Here's some of my suggestions-

(these are all purely hypothetical and just for fun duh)

• Dragon Age with CDPR
• Castlevania with From Software
• Harry Potter with Atlus (Persona style, not necessarily related to books/movies, just set in a school-year at Hogwarts)
• Fallout with Obsidian
• Devil May Cry with Platinum

What franchises do you think would be better off with someone else?

Harry Potter with Atlus would be absolutely amazing. Actually all your suggestions are pretty good.

Fallout with Obsidian is dumb.

Fallout 3 and 4 are rated higher on Metacritic. The Bethesda games also sold more. So not only did Obsidian sell less buit it also scored less on average.

THE FACT is the only people that think this want to be apart of some hipster crowd. Oh I am so cool to pick the lesser dev.

Obsidian has never made a good game alone. Almost all of their games they have to buy the assets from a different dev since they can not do it alone.

The reason Obsidian did not get another Fallout game is because their only game did not score high enough.

It is just like Kotor 2, Fallout , Neverwinter Nights, They are second tier, they are not creative enough by themselves so they take other ideas.

Most people from Obsidian were not involved in the first two fallout games. Also even less people that brag about Obsidian never played the first two Fallout games.

Obsidian is the cool name for children to act cool without actually knowing anything or actually ever playing games.

Even then Fallout 1 and 2 was some top down last gen stuff. They were FAR from current gen.

Sega, at this point, are probably better just taking all their vintage IP's and having smaller indie style games made by people who give a shit.

Or, you know, maybe it's possible that a lot of people prefer New Vegas to Fallout 3 and 4? Nah, obviously not. People that do not agree with you are obviously just hipsters trying to be cool. And of course Fallout 3 and 4 are better than New Vegas. They sold more! Just like how Infinite Warfare is better than Titanfall 2 because it sold more.

And people are not allowed to like New Vegas more than FO 3 or 4 because it has a lower Metacritic score? Lol okay dude, whatever you say.

I like your choice for Castlevania, that would be interesting, but the only issue with From Software is I have trouble understanding the full story in their games, so that part would need to be a little more fleshed out.

I'd love to see Nintendo work on a high-profile, full fledged 2D Castlevania Title. After all, they did create the incredible Super Metroid. Even the dev from Ori and the Blind Forest could do something great I think.

I agree, yeah, From Software's storytelling is much less direct than what a Castlevania game would need. But their sense of atmosphere and their general style of gameplay would suit Castlevania so well.

Also a 2D Castlevania game developed by the Ori guys is actually a pretty good idea!

Btw, we don't know how good Samus Returns and MP4 will be yet, so they're not really arguments right now, and the original Metroid makes zero sense as an argument because it wasn't reviving a dead series, it was creating a new one. Why do I even have to explain this?

Where Other M mostly faltered was story, and that was largely on Nintendo. Gameplay-wise Other M wasn't even bad and THAT was largely handled by Team Ninja.

AoE, I can accept with Firaxis, but I would rage so hard at the other two. JUST NOOO.

As an action game it was pretty good (most of the times).

But it was not at all what you'd want from a Metroid game.

If CDPR and FromSoft teamed up, they could make an amazing Harry Potter RPG, from story telling to combat, to characters, to set and atmosphere. That's a dream.

Other M was more linear and guided yeah, although that didn't necessarily bother me. Fusion was pretty similar and I dig that game alot. What sucked though were the forced first person/pixel hunt segments. Also bummed me how Samus's suit didn't turn purple once you got the gravity. A more minor issue, yeah, but still...

Also, I think I recall the game doing poorly in terms of item placement (something I recall Fusion doing well), and most s*** couldn't be acquired until the post-credits part of the game IIRC.

@khoofia_pika: anime Harry Potter sounds disgusting. CDPR should stay away from Dragon Age, it's in good hands with Sunless Sea writer working on it (if anything Larian would be a much better choice, they actually know how to make a strategic combat system).

Now for the real actually viable ones.

Valkyria Chronicles. Sega has no intention of reviving this shit and give the proper treatment it deserves. Revolution was atrocious, everyone said it was atrocious long before the game was coming out based on the first demo, but they still went with it. And they said it was shit after the second demo but Sega just said we don't care. They clearly have no clue how to manage this IP. I don't know who should take it because Firaxis taking it would be awful.

I would love to see Ubi outsourcing Splinter Cell to Kojima.

Fallout to Obsidian seems legit, as long as they use a good engine.

Dawn of War to Blizzard would be.... better than where it is now.

wolfenstein new order/new collosus by id software instead of clowns known as machinegames. Id software would have done much much better job.

I don't mean anime Harry Potter, I mean a Hogwarts game following the Persona structure, where you're a student at the school and live out a school year during some non-book/movie related story.

Meh, I want it to be set in some other original magically-inclined educational institution. Hogwarts is built and described specifically in a way that works in the Harry Potter series and would require far too much original stuff for it to be viable for a game that covers an entire year. Might as well make something completely original and not be shackled down by the existing lore.

Bully 2 with similar structure wouldn't be bad though. But less anime sh*t.

That's a pretty good suggestion, imo. Both Fable and Rare are pretty good, and Fable already felt pretty Rare-y. I think it could work.
