What makes Home so special? If someone can elaborate, please do so. This is the same thing I see in the 10,000 other games exactly like this, if what I see is what I get.
it's basically sims in a mini game. i think it is great. is it better than achievements ? i dont know. i have to test it before i can compare both. i would rather earn points to spend on new content, than items for my house. so if the rewards program gets started, it will rock. once again this could be a great thing. but we all havee to wait and see. as usual.I posted this reply in another thread four times and got no response, so I will test it again.

its a nice twist to the mii and achievement. it doesn't exactly offer anything special in terms of making games better, but it does help to create a neat virtual community. imagine if you are a clan meeting up for your big clan match, it would be kinda cool to have a house to gather in and talk out strategy and such. its all "cosmetic" and it doesn't do much for the games, but the idea is very very cool.I posted this reply in another thread four times and got no response, so I will test it again.

Here's the true lemming test. Convince me that Sony did not just have the best conference/convention/show in a long while. As a gamer, I want Sony to do well, and compete, mainly because it forces everyone else to up the ante and play with them. As a MS fan, this is actually really really cool. Sony really brought its biggest guns to the show, and kudos to them, I am anxious to see what MS does.Sony stole the show because of Little Big Planet not because of PSHome. At least for me.
PSN Home is a great idea. I hope it is implemented the way I think it will be. I hope it is as cool as it looks, and I hope that it, paired with a great Q3 and Q4 will bring me back to a company I at one time, thought could even make Nintendo quake in thier boots.
Sony, it's time to shut your mouths, and let the games do the talking. I am eagerly awaiting your next move.

Yeah, the people in the audience didn't seem that wowed, but they started laughing at the adorable LBP characters. Besides, being a fan of Viva Pinata, I think it will be good.

Big guns ? They did not announce ONE proper new game, i see no difference at all after the Sony conference, but i see 360 got Sacred 2, a superb diablo clone, can't wait
So, what games did Sony announce again ? The kiddy gimmick little big planet ? I will take Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect, Bioshock, Fable 2 thanks
If they come up with some new in game FF13 pics, i will admit they did great, now the gimmick factor of PS3 just went up, nothing more
Sony had the best show they had in years. But that's mostly because they have not had a good one in ages.
It tels you a lot when they can announce a non gaming feature, not talk about any games and still have the best show in ages.
Their other showings with games were so crappy it actually makes this look good.
Hows that for a fan-boy comment?:P
But seriously I think its a good idea. But thats all it is. Another good idea bubble by Sony that's just waiting to be busted by real life.. Like real life copyright laws and distribution models.
Absolutely nothing... combine the annoying commands from MMORPGS "/dance" "/wave" "/smile" "/killyourself" with limited home building like the Sims (except this time you have to pay for the cool furniture, clothes, et cetera with real money) and then add in a bunch of features that let you do things you can already do on the internet, only with the pain of moving a virtual guy around instead of just clicking on a browser. Watch a trailer? Well instead of clicking your mouse, why not make your virtual guy walk over to the virtual theater? Maybe you can spend some real money so your virtual guy can have some virtual popcorn while you watch the trailer... Check your email? Why go to gmail on your PC when you can spend money to buy your virtual dude a virtual PC with real money, then walk him to his virtual apartment and sit him down to check your PSN mail with it? Play video games? Why hook up a real console and play games when you can buy a virtual console on your real console, put it in your virtual apartment, and then make your virtual guy play it? The real answer - NOTHING. Home is NOTHING - it's an extra layer of useless interface on top of what we can already do. The reason people are getting so psyched is because it was a cool video that made them go "that's cool". Sony said "this is cool" and played some sleek music, a few great graphics, and a sexy british voice, and suddenly everyone was going "OMG HOME PWNS YOU!!!!1111one" I don't get it either. Frankly it looks more like an ad to jack into the Matrix and give up your soul to me, but I guess I like my real life more than some people.I posted this reply in another thread four times and got no response, so I will test it again.

I will be getting my PS3 shortly, but in no way shape or form do I believe Playstation Home will be the online saving grace for Sony.  I have no interest in PSH. I think it is way to ambitious. Kind of like the Killzone trailer of E3 2005. Sony is talking about this huge amount of content with advertisements everwhere, which only a fraction of the user base will use!
Xbox Live is all about online gaming, because it was built for it from the ground up.  The service is growing around the games. Not the other way around. Sony's idea seems to be geared toward girls. No offense to the lovely ladies out there, but all the girls go goo goo for My Space and the Sims. They love that type a thing. A virtual world where guys get together in virtual settings with advertisements all around. Hey guys, lets go hang at the Sony VR mall! What:|
I just don't see it. Guys are a simple beast. Give us cool movies, games, trailers, music, and demos to download, and we're happy. Give us a great online service to play games, and give those games an identity and a community they can build around. Forza 2 will be a great place to talk shop and build great rides with which to race. Just as Halo 2 has done a great job with its online community.
Are my online friends going to jump in my VR crib to talk it up, or are we going to do some gaming?  My bet is that we'll be doing more fraging and racing in between the times where we socialize in the real world.
This is Sony's marketplace.  Nothing more.  They had a lot to say about PSH, but none of that mumbo jumbo helped the online community with enhanced gaming options. Don't get me wrong, because this is still a huge step in the right direction, but Microsoft will always be 2 steps ahead of them, especially when it come to there next Xbox.
When Microsoft finally launches that next machine, they will have total control of the living room. Â

guys,, u r missing the main point here
GDC isnt about games, it's not for companies to showcase games to their customers. it's for companies to show their new technology and tools for developers.
and guess what? sony showed a way for developers to adv online, to have their own home so ppl can access and a place to get content and achievments from the games... that is a good thing... hell it's great
360 fanboys were pumping up achievments and that sony does not have them, now when they did (and frankley did better) everyone is acting that it;s not a good thing
honestly,, stop being a fanboy, go watch phil's confrence, the PSHome ad dosnt do it justice like the confrince did
and hope that MS come up with something good to counter it
my point is, ppl saying sony did not show games, they didnt cause this isnt the place for it... nearest event is the australian event that is going to be in the end of this month (i think),
