Okay, so I just played Crysis on High dx9 settings on my friends 8800gtx, e6600 quad core processor 4 gig ram rig. Basically... it was much more amazing. Now, the most important part of an fps was realized- Insane particle effects with intense shooting action. You could see smoke trails blazing past with the bullet being illuminated with an insane looking glare. Particles from bullets slamming into rocks and the ground and enemies was great. The game actually ran smooth compared to what I had it at and looked great, too. Explosions looked really good, too and the "throw grenade and spray" combo next to a shack looked so good. It displayed nearly all the cool qualities there are to see about Crysis.

Near the end of my time when my friend wanted to play I started jumping on all of the shacks with the double laser pistols and smacking throw then spraying everywhere and it looked so good with the motion blur and all that.

Crysis is basically 50% atmosphere and 50% gameplay. People not running this game with the effects that make an fps worth it( like I was on my PC) are just going to have an "average fps" experience.

Anyone who read my previous thread might have noticed i had a slightly negative attitude covered up humor, but its all good in the hood :P

Conclusion: really fun, physics are amazing, graphics are amazing, AI isn't anything incredible but it was good.

1 question. I haven't got a chance to play it yet on my gaming PC, but I have played it on my Laptop w/ has a 8600M GT. The game ran at ~24FPS on Medium 1280X760ish.

The trees didn't react when I shot at them and the enemies also once killed just kind of glued themselves to the ground. Is it like that on high, or will the dead body react once shot on High settings?

Extra on Gameplay:The nanosuit was pretty good. it doesn't revolutionize or take the genre in a new direction, but its a small innovation that puts a good spin on the game and helps towards creative the "total elite one man army" feeling. In some games you could just generically blast a jeep with an assault rifle or try to shoot out the guy in the gun or whatever. In Crysis you can speed up to him, switch to strength really quickly to jump above the jeep then rain terror down. The guns are also a lot more satisfying to use when... you know, you have a graphical indication you're owning and not loaning:P.

I didn't think there was too much to being stealthy... The stealth doesn't last long enough for it, its not satisfying, its not visually satisfying and it makes the experience a bit too slow.

Kinda, yeah :/

But I'm honestly to concerned with destroying shacks, then hitting dead bodies.

I see your points, but its just kind of a bummer that I can destroy a house by punching it, but can't move move a dead body. Takes away from the super-realism. Hopefully its just a beta/demo only thing.

Bodies can't be shot in Crysis because of violence laws in Germany. Far Cry got into a lot of crap there because of it. A mod will no doubt fix these things.

Just to add to this thread, I played the game both on XP and Vista on very high both on my gaming rig. My results were than the very high settings made a slight improvement overall, but playing through on High was pretty much just as good, and ran a lot more smoothly.

was there any difference between dx9 and dx10? Dx9 on high looked better than DX10 on medium so I'm guessing the changes aren't too big.

Honestly, I think Very High will run better once they fix the 64 bit bug, release the final optimized build, and nvidia releases their improved drive. Reason why I think so is the GameSpot impressions:

"Regarding the graphics, we finally got to play using full DirectX 10 graphics, and the game looks phenomenal. The system we played on was using the recommended system requirements, which are a dual core processor (in this case, a Core 2 Duo) and an Nvidia 8800-class video card. We were also using the 64-bit edition of Windows Vista, which is supposed to offer better performance. The frame rate was smooth throughout the entire session, and the only noticeable stutters occurred during save points."

Have you tried running and gunning on Delta? I found stealth mode to be much more useful on Delta since even with max energy in armor mode, it didn't take much to take you down.

But heck, to each their own play style.

Exactly.... Evenon Hard.... I found myself using Stealth all the time and I have to say, it was more fun going Stealthy than running and gunning IMO because on Hard, the AI decided they needed to retreat and stay in clusters of people so that if I sniped one, the other 4 would see me and kill me quickly... Got pretty annoying...

oh man who ever said about needing stealth in delta your so right. I played normal my first time, it was sortta hard but easy to run and gun. Did delta and was getting owned. But i started going stealth and messing with the enemy. For instance blow up a jeep so they go towards it, take out the guy in the back and than hide in the bushes. Throw a nade and unload a clip than sprint away. You really have to plan your attack in delta or have a escape plan or else you will get owned.

Than after doing delta i went back to normal and my god is it easy. I can run in a base and barley use cover and own.

This game is simply amazing. Oh yes i run it on medium so i dont have as good graphics as TC and let me tell you this is no average shooter.

find a nice cover and switch to armor. Your energy regens fast enough. Thats what I do. Also if you find yourself a hiding spot, sit still pop up on cloak, take a headshot, then duck back down. All the while, have the silencer on, and trust me, its long enough. If your sitting still, cloak lasts plenty long enough for you to get a nice headshot. Then just hide, and repeat. It's tactical and they will eventually find you so you need to try and move every once and a while but still...

thats what i do do. But i found it makes everything a little too slow. Not really a big deal. I waited cloaked for a jeep to come by and ambushed it buy blasting the gas tank... at which poitn I was assaulted by other forces :D
