Funny how Microsoft doesn't get FF13 the one place it needs it

What do you folks think ? No I am not doing damage control, I admit ownage and whatnot and YES it's a huge blow for Sony but come on ! 360 needed FF13 is Japan and since it's not gonna get it I think there is little chance for 360 hitting the 1 million mark over there.

oh it's being released in Japan but as a PS3 exclusive while 360 will have multiplat release with PS3 version alongside in America and Europe.

the man was talking about how he wants square enix "to tap into those (NA and Europe) markets",u misheard like i did earlier that he solely meant those regions would get it on 360, plus if you think about it, that would clearly be a stupid marketing move to release ff13 on 360 only in europe and U.S. and not japane even after u manufactured/distributed copies of the game.

oh and link to it not coming in Japan? So far, it could be that the game is time exclusive over there.

Well square enix never said it wouldnt be released in japan on the 360...

they just said that they were ''looking forward to expanding there audience in the western world and europe with the release of FF XIII on the 360''

I can see them leaving japan out of that statment, because..well the 360 just doesnt really expand there. :P

Never the less without a MS/SE annocument we can ownly speculate on the probability or inprobalbility of a ''world wide'' release

Microsoft is probably smart enough to realise that selling a 360 in Japan when the game there after is multiplat would be pretty freakin dense.

Instead now they let every RPG lover in Europe and America pay half price for the console that they need to get there fix

The major problem with the 360 in Japan is the fact that many of it's best games never come out in Japan.

There are a **** ton more Japanese games localized to the USA/Europe than the other way around ALOT more.

Yeah, there are certainly thing Microsoft could have done differently in Japan

but as it stands it's too late, and the system is dead.

However Japanese developers do see the 360's popularity in the US and are making games for it, but they are catered to a western audience alone.

I am actually shocked here. Why not put FF13 on 360 in Japan as well.

Even if it sells 10,000 copies, if it's already made on the 360 (Europe/NA version) and you can just copy the script from the PS3 Japanese version, why the hell not?

It would probably cost close to no money to release it in Japan, there is a 600,000 user base for a game I am sure many of those people would love to buy.

Sega once said VF5 for 360 wouldn't release in Japan, but lo and behold I just whooped some Japanese ass in it. They're overrated BTW ;)

Nope this game is not coming to 360 in Japan. They will finish it for PS3 this year and release it in Japan. If they made a 360 port it would only take longer for the game to release and it wouldn't be worth it as the 360s installed base is so low in Japan.

Right, that's what I was thinking. US and Europe are still massive markets so this is a major loss to Sony any way you spin it.

Just passing through, actually. This place has gotten boring for me whick is why I've been gone for so long. This place only gets exciting during E# now for me.

I know, right. So many people love talking about Japan and have never been there. It's incredible. They know very little of these other countries, never been, and have no understanding of the foreign market but they love pointing to them and claiming "ownage" (as if they actually owned anything important). Just goes to show that people love stroking their electronic wang to try and look tough and badass.

I lived in Japan and Korea for a year each, though I cant say I have my finger on the pulse of Asian culture, I do believe I know a little more then the average 8 year old from Alabama (random state, no offence). This generation and any following generation of western consoles will fail in japan solely on the stigma of poor quality (the RROD surly didn't help this). Foreign markets do interest me because it has and will effect the content that is released. If even half of the games that have been release in japan only, came too NA/EU the market would be quite different.

Do not underestimate FF's selling power in Japan.

On a side note.. I remember buying a burnt copy of FFVIII(JPV) in Korea and actually making it too the second disc... I bought it later in English for my PS and PC so don't jump all over me :P It seems kinda silly now but it was 5 bucks for a copy that might as well be in Sanskrit :lol:

They haven't abandoned Japan as they secured Star Ocean 4 and well as Undiscovery. It must have been tough for them to get Final Fantasy XIII at all to begin with.
