Future FromSoft games may have start to finish co-op?

There is a mod on PC for Elden Ring players to play together, unhindered by the games vanilla co-op restrictions. It allows up to five players, no fog walls to restrict other player access, and death doesn't return you to your world, nor does defeating the area boss. Miyazaki made a statement based off of this knowledge about the Mod, whether it's something they would consider going forwars. "That's not to say we won't consider other ways, like you and your friend played, from beginning to end, total co-op — that's not to say we won't consider ideas like that with our future games."

Miyazaki mentioned that current co-op is centered around this idea of drop in, drop out. What do you guys think? Would it be better if Froms future games had a full, start to finish co-op that excluded the restrictions that modern FromSoft games have? I know my personally, I would enjoy it.

How does it work, does the game wait for all players to die to do a respawn at a bonfire?

@girlusocrazy: I also enjoy the solo experience, but it would be helpful when friends who aren't acquainted with the game need help. I know if was a pain to have my older brother summon me. Connection with the servers or lack of materials for summoning. :(

I have fiber Internet, and my kitten destroyed the cord. It's supposed to be replaced today between 8am-11am. Work at 12pm. Not sure if I can play my games, I haven't tried. Been wanting to play Hell Divers 2. T_T

I can see this as a way to introduce an "easier" mode for those complaining about no easier modes... but not for me.

I like getting help on bosses, but that's it.

Did a Seamless Co-op playthrough last year with my wife, was the only way to get her to try a game like this. It was a good time.

I wonder how it could handle drops, chests, experience sharing, difficulty scaling, someone getting locked behind a boss wall without the others, friends killing NPCs that you want to keep alive... If it is implemented properly then that sounds like it could be cool.

Similar to subnautica, I think being alone in these games is half the appeal. But I also would like to see an MMO with souls combat, so both ways could be cool.

Yes. FromSoftware has a lot to think about if they implement this. Woo wee. You brought up a lot of good points. Maybe they could introduce a kind of Karma system to hopefully prevent buds from wiping out NPCs. Lol

@mycatismilk: Cats don't like foil or citrus smells, maybe you could put these things around there. Maybe the cat needs a scratching post to keep busy.

@girlusocrazy: That's what I heard. I got some citrus essential oil and sprayed some areas, and it did not deter my cats from destroying my stuff. Lol. I'll try the foil. And I already have scratching posts in my place. 😞😓

I haven't had any takers for him, so in the meantime, I'll continue to try and bond.

I kinda like the soloing experience when I played ER and any Souls genre for that matter. I just prefer getting thimgs done my way and as always. If you want something done right, do it yourself. Glad this mod exists for others to experiment with.

I think that would be a nice feature to have available.

I'm good with that if it isn't forced. The way they do coop and pvp now is asinine at best.

Its the right way to evolve their formula without casualizing it for the lowest common denominator. In fact, this should have been a thing since Dark Souls 3. In a more linear structure like their older games, its less important, but for open world games, seamless coop is an absolute must. They've introduced the option to be able to invade anywhere in the game, something that we didn't have before, so at least they've seen dark souls 2 and dark souls 3 mods, and added what the pvp community was asking. They also need to add crossplay for their next game, and it'll be THE game of games.

Seamless Coop Mod for ER worked so well. They should just hire that person.

Even playing solo it was worth using because it allows for diferent save file extensions so you could use other mods without connecting to the FROM servers.

I really hope they got rid of the dumb black bars on ultrawide resolutions (I shit you not, the game renders ultrawide resolutions AND THEN PUTS BLACK BARS ON TOP OF THE GAME). Removing those is the only mod I consider essential.

Of course it does make sense at this point to include this.

I believe the point of their system as-is is that the souls games were always meant to have heavy themes of isolation which naturally clashes with co-op. Help from other players was fleeting, and in come cases not even helpful. The feeling of being alone, without truly being alone was present. It made the world imposing even when support is there.

However Elden Ring shows pretty plainly that people just want full-time co-op without the headaches. The market is there. And Elden Ring in particular is probably their busiest game in terms of NPCs and has tons of common summon options, so that concept of feeling isolated and alone really is barely there anyway. Elden Ring focuses a lot more on things like body horror and eldritch beings for it's implied challenges, instead of the player just being a small fry in a big world.

Just hire the guy who did it and copy/paste his work in Elden Ring 2 or whatever is next.

More options is always better. I say go for it, FromSoft.

Seamless coop mod was great. Made the game a total cakewalk, but nice that it worked well.

If there's no collective opinion, and its just your opinion, your personal score means nothing. So you can buy what you like, but never say that the game is good or bad when only your opinion isn't good enough to trust.

See unlike you I can see a game rate in the 60's and play and find enjoyment in that game as I did with Ryse, great game mostly for it's online component but the campaign was solid. Whereas you look at its score and instantly agree with critics that it sucks. You have a real sheep's brain where you follow/mimic the flock.

I see Miyazaki different than other developers. I don't tell him what to make because he makes better games than anyone else on planet earth. This is what you did, and in reality, you didn't need to, its been clear for around five years. If Sony was releasing the same amount of games that they were during the 7th and 8th gen, i would be buying them, but i never was a fan of the likes of Spiderman, its a shovelware franchise, so obviously gonna be permanently skipping titles aimed at people that don't video games.
