Future of the PS3

Future looks good.. if we just consider exclusives i'll probably get all of the below

Uncharted 2, MAG, GT5, GOW3, The Last Guardian, Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, FF Versus, Demon Souls, Ratchet & Clankand WKC... Hoping we'll see an EU/US version forYakuza 3..

surely there are others in development which i either forgot or else still to be announced :)

well maybe will announce price drod on TGS.Well as for its future games on PS3 keeps getting better and better.. out of the 3 console right now it has the brightest future ahead IMO.

God of War 3 and Uncharted II is all that is notable, regardless of what any Cow will say. It's worth investing in one but if you are straight out of college wait for a price drop, you'll thank me when it comes around Christmas to early next yearToriko42

Plenty of good exclusive and multiplat games already out and even more coming. also it plays Bluray movies. I'd say it's worth investing in. And if by your question if it's still rlevant you mean to say that you think Sony might drop support for the PS3, well, that's never going to happen.

if the price is expensive for you then there is nothing I can tell you which might make you wanna get a PS3.. you should just wait till maybe a price-cut is announced..

I got my PS3 because i knew what it offered in terms of features and unless you havent following the gaming scene the past 3 yrs you should also know it too..

As far as a Price Drop, maybe there will be one at Xmas, but the PS3 is ALREADY $200 cheaper than it was at launch, so that's a plus.

As far as trying to imply some sort of negative about the PS3, you're on the wrong track, bud. :)

Well PS3 seems to have to best future from thew other 2 consoles and its already worth getting one but if you find it expensive then wait and hope there will be a price drop soon.

The PS3 had a bad start, but Sony is making up for it now. I just hope it isn't too late.

I think the PS3 has a decent future ahead. Some good games are coming out and its hardware will be relevant for many years to come... Sony is not going to be replacing its console anytime soon.

But isn't the gap between the 360 and the PS3 widening? Also, aside from some supposed "mole" at Ars Technica, what reason do we have to believe that the price will drop other than hunches? And how sure can we be that they're bringing back BC? Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but is it really that ridiculous to think it'll be obsolete in a year?dereknippl-e

the patent itself is pretty solid proof for the BC point.

But the PS3's hitting out exclusive games like god knows what and most of them are top of the line games..KZ2 and R2 have been 2 of the most improved sequels.Sony aint stupid when it comes to getting new IP's.Wouldnt surprise me if there isnt more new IP's on the way we dont know about.

you got the existing exclusives on PS3 like MGS4, Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction, Killzone 2, inFamous, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Uncharted : Drake's Fortune, Resistance : Fall of Man, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet.

Coming out later this year alone is gonna be..... Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves, MAG, Demon's Souls, Afrika, and strong change of Gran Turismo 5 finally coming out.

The heat doesn't let up next year either with PS3 exclusives being... God of War 3, White Knight Chronicles, Heavy Rain : Origami Killer, Final Fantasy 14 Online, possibly ModNation Racers, Final Fantasy Versus 13, and Last Guardian.

pair that up with... there are rumors of a price drop (lot of pressure and hints that it is coming). The PS3 is 3 years old and has dropped from $600 to $400. You can upgrade the harddrive on it.

They Continue to spout they're promise of a 10 year support for the system.

revelations of a patent showing PS2 b/c will be returning to PS3 (hopefully to all systems not just the new models)

new PS3 slim rumors (they've done this with every system)

PS3 is gettin it's own motion controls - if that strikes your fancy.

Blu-Ray player (it won the format wars after all....), also plays DVD's, CD's, music you upload to it, and photos. can stream most movies right off of an external harddrive (which is what i get my multimedia use out of it).

We also have a strong strong third party support, and the quality of games are now up to par of what 360 gets. not often we see a game that is half-ass done for PS3. Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Final Fantasy 13, Dante's Inferno, etc. etc.

yeah. the PS3 may very well stay in third place this gen, but it will NOT be a sad and uneventful 3rd place. there is a lot to look forward to with PS3. Plus Sony hasn't really reached out and made deals with other companies yet like NetFlix, Facebook, Twitter and others (yeah you guys might not like it but i'd sure as hell love to have those things on PS3).

the future of the PS3 looks great... some amazing exclusives are coming up between 2009 - 2010 (the ones we know about) + many other great multiplats.. As regards gamers who still havent got a PS3, I think they'll be happy should Sony announce another price-cut..

I do believe PS3 will get a price-cut later on this year and considering it has a great games library + its a blu-ray player and offers a good (free) online service it will surely attract new gamers..

Just buy the console now! Itis unbeatable this generation.

Honestly I would go with a XBOX 360 over the PS3. I guess you could continue to wait for this bright future or better games, it just always seems like I am waiting with the PS3.

people buy what's more convenient nowadays.

xbox 360 is more convenient and has nothing to envy to ps3.

oh and if you don't have a hd tv, be ready to buy one if you will buy the ps3, cause unlike the xbox 360, you can't hook it to your Pc-monitr.
