Well it kind of makes sense they did that they would not want anything to go wrong. At a press conference like that you don't leave anything to chance.
This is what MS would have you believe Kinect is capable of when really it's all just fake as shit. Kinect is a complete farce of a game controller.

I thought this was obvious. And even if the technology works flawlessly you do NOT do it for real on stage because of all the interference and in this case the sound disturbance. I mean he is talking in a mic in a superbig tent.
The 'conversation' was clearly pre-recorded.
He was talking for half an hour about Xbox features. Don't you think the console might respond during his 30 minute talk in an undesireable way while they were saying TV, TV, TV? There is no way it was realtime, absolutely no way. It remains to be seen how well it actually works in reality.
That would have been so much better though.Maybe they didn't want to risk someone from the audience shouting "Xbox, Off" or "Xbox, open internet explorer, search porn" and ruining everything :P
