Gabe Newell ego goes rampant, fires everyone incites hatred against youth

"Valve head honcho Gabe Newell did not mince words about his disdain for the host in question, James "2GD" Harding, who Newell publicly called "an ass" in a Reddit thread.

Newell took to Reddit to address the backlash over the tournament's streams. Fans have been complaining about feeds dropping, dead air, poor audio quality, and lackluster, arguably offensive commentary.

The studio head offered the following explanation on Reddit, wherein he blamed Harding's hosting skills and the production company Valve hired to stream the $3m tournament.

Two things:

1) James. We've had issues with James at previous events. Some Valve people lobbied to bring him back for Shanghai, feeling that he deserved another chance. That was a mistake. James is an ass, and we won't be working with him again.

2) As long as we're firing people, we are also firing the production company that we've been working with on the Shanghai Major. They will be replaced, and we hope to get this turned around before the main event.

So what did Harding do that drew Newell's ire so strongly? It's hard to pinpoint, but the most common speculation is that his opening gambit wherein he discusses "the cans and c***s of the team" followed by an awkwardly told anecdote about masturbating to censored wheelchair porn the night before didn't quite fit the tone of the program. Most likely it was a combination of factors.

Uncle Ben humbly tries to convey a simple but powerful message to Peter Parker. Peter, realizing by being proxy of Spiderman, pushes his loved ones away, as he knows his enemies will deliberately target them, this means sacrificing the thing he wants the most.

Gabe Newell, aware of his messiah status among the vitriolic, appears to be using that responseability poorly, acting like a 14 year old, encouraging 14 year olds.

Not saying he's doing it deliberately like Totalbiscuit did when he flamed feminist hatred, but a man in his position probably shouldn't be so candid when directly an influence on unstable people (swatters, hackers, harassers)...

I like how Gabe called this James guy an ass.

Production staff had it deserved. China can't host a good event for whatever reason. Don't really care about 2GD. Dota 2 pro scene in general is petty and vindictive. We get this kind of drama and other hosts like slacks while Street Fighter community gets people like Mike Ross and Gootecks.

Thus consoles > PC

2GD is one of the most iconic persons when it comes to esports and there aren't many people out there who can say they've done more for esports than what he has.

That being said he is what he is, if you want a super professional cast you don't get him, because that's not what he does best, he's an entertainer.

The production staff had it coming, there's no question about that.

And is someone actually surprised a tournament in China goes south? It's easier to list successive tournaments held there than those that had issues.

Don't know if you noticed this or perhaps you are just being biased, but every game's pro scene is petty and vindictive, especially and even worse on consoles.

Apparently, he had it comming since the last International and he have been warned about those comments in past streams, if you can't follow a simple instruction from your bosses, then you deserve to be fired, don't matter if you are an important part of the scene, you are there to make a job and if you can't, then you go away, as simple as that.

The commenter maybe an ass, but Gabe Newell is an even bigger ass for taking the situation publicly on Reddit and for hiring him in the first place. They seriously have poor business and PR skills.
