....except that steam is in and of it self drm.... If I download a game last I checked I have to install it and update it through steam, of course I can back it up but what does that mean? does that I mean I can uninstall steam and install those games without steam? nope I have to install steam to use them.
Developers have learned the hard way you can make consumers happy and most of them will still rip you off.«If you're not making your customers happy you're doing something stupid» I couldn't agree more.

Gabe never said that steam is not DRM. His point when he talks about DRM is about not just protecting the product but more importantly giving people features that will outweigh the cons of having drm. Steam having auto-updates, forums for every game, achivements, the new mod thing, screenshot support, overlay, trading, friends is providing an allround service that is easy to use. Also did anyone else think, fat Sigmund Freud when they saw bearded Gabe?....except that steam is in and of it self drm.... It's a grief beard. The Episode 3 situation must be getting dire. It might even be cancelled.

And yet, if I buy a game off GMG, I can't trade it in because 9 times out of 10, it's tied to Steam's DRM.
But hey, why complain? I'm sure trading virtual hats makes up for it:|
Yeah DRM just causes more piracy, look at GTA4 and some ubisoft games, the pirated versions are much better, so why buy it?

Still not as bad as XBL DRM,where you are also forced to do everything through it,but on top of that pay additional costy fee to access all the features(MP componenet) you payed for with your original game purchase.Yep,Steamworks may be a DRM,and as a retail buyer I often dislike it since it gets in the way and is mildly restrictive, but Steam did a lot for PC gaming, and made many gamers happy...
With 60$ you pay for your XBL,I could get many great games on a sale...

Valve needs to implement a trade in system.

Would make me so incredibly happy if they did.
Though to be fair, Steam isn't the only one that needs it. Origin and GFWL could implement it too.
"If you are not making your customers happy, then you are doing something stupid." Gabe, listen to your own words and give us some ****ing details on Half-Life 3, I don't care if it isn't coming out for another three years, just give us some info! :(

Stop asking for it then. I think what he's going to do is give info on the game when it's not on everyone's mind. Increases the shock value and all that good stuff. ;)
