There seems to be a sudden spike in the number of topics talking about game delays, most of them bashing the PS3. Well, are game delays really that bad? We are paying $60 for a game, so I would rather the game actually work than have to patch it 1 week after buying it. Think about Halo2. Supposedly it was rushed and alot of people, including Bungie themselves, felt that it did not live up to the first game. Now had Bungie been given the option to delay it for a little longer, they could have implemented most if not everything they wanted. Sure in some cases game delays dont do jack for the game (Lair) and in some cases they are delayed as not to coincide with another major release from another console (which i find to be cowardly). But for the majority of cases, any dev that feels that the consumer deserves better and decides to earn the $60 we pay for their games, is all good in my books.

I would call ti a curse. The reason why a game is delayed is because the developers are having problems with either the engine they are building on, the hardware they are buildign for or their own ineptness.

But wouldnt you rather they dealt with those problems than giving you a completley broken game like Killzone 1 for PS2. Sure for some games, the engine is working fine but the gameplay is just broken and really nothing can save that type of game so late into the project (Lair). But for games like Killzone 1 I think had they been able to fix the bugs and framerate issues that it would have turned out to be a great game. Surely no Halo killer, but a definite AA game that would be well worth looking into. The gameplay for that game wasnt broken, just the engine.

I had to wait an EXTRA two years for Twilight Princess, but in the end it was easily worth it. Delaying a game is good if it turns out that the developer was using the time to improve upon the game. That is why I dont get angry when Miyamoto delays a game, because I know the game will be better for it:D

Delays don't bother me

I care more about what games I would've played by the END of system life more than beginning of system life.

Nah, delays are alright, as long as the game turns out alright. I think the stigma lies in that a lot of the PS3's games are getting delayed, which suggests that the devs are having trouble with the hardware, and thereby fuels a lot of "the PS3 is DOOOOOMED!!!" threads. People on here are wacky.

...Wacky...

Exactly.

Most games turn out to be better after delays. The longer the delays, the better the game will be (usually).Of course, there are limits to how many delays people can handle before they wonder if the game will ever release.:?

If the gameis awesome in the end, I don't see why it should be considered a curse.

If the game sucks in the end though, the words in my mind are along the lines of "I waited for so long only to get THIS PIECE OF ****!? ARGH! :x"
