Interesting read.

The problem is that too many people throw that term around without even knowing what it means. Example: If someone doesn't like Batman AA, they call all of the people who do like it "Batman Fanboys". A fanboy to me is someone that fails to see anyone of the faults of a perticular thing.

I own a 360, I have no plans to buy a PS3 because I am cheap, and the advantages of having both systemsdon't justify me buying a PS3 at this point. I know the 360 isn't perfect, and neither is the PS3, but plenty of people would call me a fanboy for notgetting one. Which is fine, because I learned about peer pressure in kindergarten.

It's not cool laughing at people less fortunate than you :(, some people can only afford 1 console and they will defend it! Generalizing here, usually "most" of the fan boyism are caused by having 1 console onlysalxis

I only have one CONSOLE (own PC as well) but that doesn't mean that I through out such things like "M$ = RROD, lolzerz". Defending a console that you own isok but to just randomly bash, like some fanboys, is just laughable. This article is spot on and I agree 100%.

With that said, fanboys should be annihilat...I mean destroye...I mean...Hmm...*looks for another word*...should be...hugged? :S

This is how you write an article on fanboys and what they are doing. Man this article reeks of class and professionalism though something Sterling knows nothing about.

I wholeheartedly agree with the article.

Well I think there should be a distinction between fanboys and haters/trolls, you can be a fan of a single system without hating the others or thinking that because you like a certain system the best everyone else has to as well.

But I think yahtzee again nailed it, would any of us come here if we had something important to do? Propably not, I don't think it's a problem though as long as you don't take it too far.

If you let a troll, or a fanboy ruin your day you are doing something totally wrong. Sure, everyone gets annoyed, but you should also know by now that you aren't going to win an arguement with those types and simply give up. Sure, it gets debated, but once again, mature people can understand that certain people enjoy certain consoles better, and just respect it. There's nothing wrong with saying "SNES had Turltes in Time, and I hated Hyperstone Heist on Genesis", but you don't see "SNES pwnz Genesis so muchfoolz!!!1!1"

Yup... that's all basically true.

On the flipside, fanboys have great comedy value on internet forums and while we're at it, we may aswell not isolate videogame fanboys without mentioning comic book fanboys (e.g. the rivalry between DC fans and Marvel fans) or movie fanboys responsible for putting movies like the Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings in the IMDb top 10.
