Game Journalist Throws a Fit at Killzone 2 Fans.

Video game website, Ripten, has published an article about why gamers must stop hyping the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive, Killzone 2. Killzone 2 fans were not pleased by the opinion of the author and have posted numerous angry remarks in the comment section of the site. John Landis, a game journalist of Ripten, retaliates with a profanity ridden reply. Hit the link to read his reply.

Seriously though, I find it amazing the amount of stupidity that comes from the Sony community when someone says something only looks "OKAY" as apposed to the super **** awesome that it's supposed to be. You know what? I think Killzone 2 looks like **** ASS!!!! There, I said it. It looks like another **** first person shooter that will try and take the supposed crown from Halo but fail miserable, which just goes to show how much it will suck because Halo isn't really that good of a game to start with. What's sad is the tenacity that you people have to defend it.

There have been articles on this website about xbox games being over hyped or in some way flawed but there is never as many xbox gamers coming out of the woodwork to defend their system's games as there are PS3 gamers. You know why I think that is? It's because people playing the xbox actually have games to play instead of constantly looking for the great savior to be developed. Guess what? Killzone 2 could be the most bad ass super awesome killer app ever made but guess what... it's not going to mean jack **** because no one is willing to go out and blow a thousand dollars on a **** gaming system just to play one **** game. Resistance 2 was supposed to be **** awesome also, and I'm sorry, but in my personal opinion, it was not fun. The only fun I've had on the PS3 was Little Big Planet. THAT game was awesome, but most of the fun from that came from playing with friends. It was a cute little relaxing platformer and a nice change of pace from blowing **** up or ripping people's heads off all the time.

I just don't see how you can justify getting so bent out of shape about a **** shooter. They're a dime a dozen. To me all these comments trying to bust Dan's balls simply show to me that PS3 fans are bored ass fourteen year olds who want to be gangstaz when they grow up, at least a majority of them. Most of the PS3 gamers I know personally are older family types that got the system for one of two reasons, if not both: BlueRay and they already had a PS2 so they just wanted to upgrade.

I saw the article the other day and I didn't read it because Im not interested alot like the other folks about KZ2 and I didn't care about the message the author was trying to spread, but that comment got my attention because he is serious about it lol, I mean really, making an article to say for people don't hype a specific game, who cares, let them hype the game to no end, who cares, if it flops it's nobody's fault except the developers but making such comments in the same article like this and other comments, I don't know, they should have been more pro about it.

What do you think about this ? is game journalism becoming low or what?

Well sure there are lots of games that are over hyped now, but that doesn't mean you bash a game before you even play the darn thing. What kinda professionalism is that?

I don't agree with amount of bash that he received, but he should of known what he was getting in for when he wrote that article, about a game he never even played.

"Seriously though." I might have to stop using that now. Oh well, I was getting tired of it anyway.

On a more serious note, that is not an appropriate reply to anything. If you want to support an argument, you don't drop down to someones level. You keep a solid stance, and you hold that stance no matter what. Unless you turn around and decide you were wrong in the first place.

I don't think he has anything against people anticipating a game. He's probably more annoyed by fanboys thinking that Ripten has it in for Sony or something just because they aren't crazy about Killzone. There's a difference.

Still, this article probably isn't the best way to express that.

Exactly. Replying in the manner he chose to only serves to illustrate that he is no better than all of the individuals who were posting insults. Which, in my opinion, shows him to be just as much of a 'fanboy' as the rest of them. What's worse though, is that more than likely the majority of those posters who were insulting him were a bunch of juveniles, yet he is so insecure that he feels compelled to defend himself from a bunch angry kids on the internet with a profanity laced diatribe, lol? Well Games should not be hyped, but it is exciting to be a PS3 owner right now, after all you talk about the hype for Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet. So Resistance 2 was good and Little Big Planet was really good, so in all honesty it's not like the hype is misleading.

Besides, if a Xbox 360 exclusive got as many great previews as Killzone 2 is getting, believe you me that that game would be hyped to no end. Also rest assured Killzone 2 would not be as hyped as it is if all the previews were not as good as they are, so it's not like it's just the Sony fanboy's who are hyping this game.

This is pretty much what I think. The funny thing about that stupid rant is it will do nothing more than cause him to be bashed more. The people who bash him immaturely most likey don't know jack about what they're talking about so why lash out. Ignorance only breeds more ignorance.

"Okay, call it a killer app if you want to, I don't really care. Generally, a killer app is something that drives masses to buy the system and I don't think Killzone 2 will do that. It might increase sales a little, but it isn't going to be a killer app like Halo 3 was (even though it didn't deserve a 10, it drove MILLIONS of people to get a 360). Will it be a must-own game if you have a PS3? Sure, but it's still not the game to make you buy a PS3. If it were, I would be buying a PS3. Can't argue with that logic ;)"

The last time I went to an unknown site posted on the Gamestop forums it gave my computer Spyware, so I do not wish to go to Ripten. However you should read the post above yours if you are curious. :)
