That should be added in GTA 4's place. Spore is by far the most likely to win GOTY imo.

MGS 4 is the best game so far this gen, and i really dont see gears2 or any other game knocking it off.

You mean MGS4. Anyway, with so many killer games this year, there will not be a stand out #1 game like in years past. There are quite easily a dozen games that people will voice over and over that they should be the GOTY. Quite frankly, I dread the day when sites and mags start postin theirs and man the flame wars will be hot hot hot.

i want to say just a few things:

1. just to get this out of the way, i have not layed any games on this list since i do not have a next gen consloe

2. games that aren't out yet should not be in consideration because thiers this thing called "dissapointment" that has happed bazillions of times over the years so always be aware

3. I noticed that gta4 only has 6% of the vote. now like i said, i have not played this game, nor any others this year, but i honestly dont get it, on metacritic it has a 97/100 overall to critics, which lands it SECOND OF ALL TIME behind ocarina of time. and, it got a 10/10 by ign and gamespot, the two most trusted reviewers. But i just dont get why, if it is supposed to be so good, then why does it seem like no one actually likes it. I dont understand. And honestly, it will more than likely be getting plenty of goty's this year (from what it seems). yeah...

4. i honestly dont think any games coming out later are going to win goty. GTA4 and MGS4 both got 10/10 by gamespot and ign, and i am pretty damn sure wer'e not gonna get the holy trifecta of all time. There aren't probably gonna be any more huge games for the rest of the year, just lots of solid ones. which is good,(except for your wallet), and honestly i doubt lbp or spore are gonna beat mgs or gta. So goty will probably be between gta4, praised by critics and hated(apparently) by players, and mgs4, loved by players, but mixed by critics.

MGS4 is my guess. Unless Portal, the full game, is out on the 360 this year.

If Metal Gear Solid 4 doesnt get it, I'll be surprised. I just got a PS3...Im not even finished with the game, I cant put it down (unless I need a Madden Fix). The game is nice, It has its little stuff I cant stand like hiding in a barrel/box, but still....I believe that game saved/made the PS3's year...so far. Hopefully LBP does well, Gears 2, and Force Unleashed looks like its going to be a monster IMO.

Out of all of those GTA IV.

True. I already posted in here saying that I thought Spore and LBP was going to get it, because they look so innovative and fun. But I haven't played either of the games, obviously, and can't really say for sure unless if I did play them. and to be honest, I might not even play them because I don't have a good gaming PC, and if I do get a PS3, it won't be until after this generation is over and I can get it cheap, so I'm not really the best person to say those two games either way. But again, based on what I've seen, as long as they don't do something extremely poorly, which hurts the game as a whole, the great ideas behind the games should get the games GOTY IMO. :P

Honestly I don't get it either. I think it might have been a hype thing, thinking "ZOMG, this is so amazing!11" or something like that. Or maybe they were focusing too much on the sim stuff (friends, dating, etc.), big city, and all the great details in the game. Admittedly, that stuff was very well done, but I don't think that it deserved the 10s that it got. It sacrificed the great gameplay of the series for all those smaller details. The game itself was too stale and repetative overall, and while it was a good game, I'd probably end up giving it an 8.0-8.5 if I reviewed it myself. That seems to be the general consensus of gamers on this board (about the gameplay, not the score :P), but then again, it is Gamespot's GOTY, so it might very easily go to GTA4. I hope not though, because I want to see it go to something more original, and with more variety.
