Killing Floor might be the best of them at the moment, although I've also always been a huge fan of the Source-based zombie survival mods.

I love some of the modded maps they create. I'm glad the game got recognition by PC gamers given that it had zero hype, and it didn't get rave reviews. Though I do want to mention I'm pretty certain Killing Floor is made with Unreal Engine 2; not Source.
Halo 3: ODST. By far the best mode of its type I've ever played. Reach has way more options, but for some reason it's not nearly as fun, and this is from someone who enjoys Reach.
Not sure if serious, CoD horde mode is awful.[QUOTE="UDrake"][QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"]
Personally, I like zombies, but it doesn't work that well because of the God-awful netcode that CoD is built with.

Maybe, the zombie mode is fun.
It's fun. But it's so under polished and like you said lacks proper net coding. And the two type zombies, runners/slow ones get so repetitive and boring.Unreal Tournament's 2004's invasion mode. 16 enemies types and very customizable
I found ODST's Firefight to be the most addicting. Uncharted 2's would take the cake but it only has 10 rounds. If they give you the option to make it last longer in Uncharted 3 I think that'll probably be my favorite.
Unreal Tournament's 2004's invasion mode. 16 enemies types and very customizable
- What type of monsters each and every wave will have, and how many monsters they will have,
- How many waves there will be,
- Modifiers such as big heads, ect
- Difficulty options, determining the strength of the monsters
- Starting and Final Wave

Basically this. Also, am I the only one that thinks all the so-called "Horde" modes are copied off UT?

It's very possible, but to be fair, Aliens versus Predator had a wave/survival game mode in 1999. It's often overlooked, unfortunately. I know how you feel. I think it's probably because the conditions of both. In ODST there was no matchmaking so you had to get friends together to play it. You couldn't customize the experience in ODST so you couldn't make it as easy as you can in Reach and the weapons were weaker in ODST.The conditions of ODST made it to where combat would usually be more intense and required more team work.
The was more motivation for playing Fire fight in ODST too. There was an achievement for each map and there were difficult achievements for ODST's fire fight. On the other hand there are only a few fire fight achievements in Reach and all but one of them can be earned in a custom fire fight games where you can be invincible and have a rocket launcher you never have to reload with infinite ammo.
The typical firefight experience in ODST involved playing with your friends in more challenging battle where as the typical Reach fire fight experience is probably in match making with strangers or in customs with godlike powers making combat easy and dull.
If you really wanted you could have a similar experience in Reach but you'll probably have trouble find like minded individuals among your friends. Personally my friends would rather play some match making instead of even giving fire fght a chance at all, let alone purposefully make it difficult.
Skirmish! That's it. It's good that someone else appears to remember it. Good times...I loved the Skirmish mode in AvP1.
You needed balls to play that game with the marne. I'm also very much fond of castle defenses in warcraft 3.

The Skirmish mode on AvP1 wwas great as well. I actually played as the marine, I thought he was more fun than the predator. Back in 1999, when I first played the Skirmish mode I thought it was the coolest thing I have ever seen in gaming so far. I was a bit disappointed when AvP2 didnt have it, still a great game though.
