Games of this gen you believe have been overated?

Have a go at me if you want, you won't change my opinion. But yeah, my list goes as follows:

Gears of War

Portal and TF2 (I have only played this on X360 though, I am aware that the team aspect of the game is used to a greater digree on PC though)

GTA4

MGS4, to a small extent.

Burnout Paradise

Bioshock, again, to a small extent.

gta4 was not a 10 imho. sorry folks... great game though.

lost planet is like a 6.5 to me... overrated.

Both GTA IV and MGS4 were definitely overrated. Assassin's Creed, slightly overrated. Uncharted may have been slightly underrated.

MGS4- Mediocre controlls horrible online and laughable story and characters

Gears of war- Meh SP coupled with boring and repetitive MP

GTA4- 0 replyability and horrible online MP warrant a 10 this generation :? (same goes for MGS4)

Brawl.

It deserves a 9 not a 9.5.

I don't really most games are overrated.

More like they were overhyped, over-talked-about (by fans of the game), and overused (as saying they are good games/exclusives for the console), which is not the same as overrated. It would be overrated if people said it deserved like above a 10, you would give it a 3 or below, or if all the features they bragged about weren't in the game.

But if I really had to make a list:

Turok

Dark Sector

Super Smash Bros Brawl

GTA IV

Those were some duds for me, despite my high expectations.

It's kinda weird, when GTA4 and MGS4 first came out most people thought they deserved 10's but as times goes on they become "overrated".Beastfrog

GTA4

and from the small time I spent at a friend's house watching MGS4, I'd say probably that. Based only on it getting a 10 here and I found the end cutscene not very exciting at all. It was emotional( sad, happy, funny), but I wasn't sitting there in astonishment. The cutscenes felt way too long. There were parts when I'm like "okay game over" and another cutscene starts :|

Two I won't say were overated were GTA4 and MGS4.

From what I have played of Bioshock, I will say that. I don't think Halo 3 nor GeoW were overrated.

Alright maybe you did, but not nearly as many people vocally expressed their thoughts that they were overrated until months after release.

is it me or when ppl label a game with the term overated ppl seem to think that that the quality of the game is instantly bad, and i have also found out that every good game always has ppl from these forums calling overated and bad. For eg. Halo is overated, than a person says Half life is better, than somebody else its overated and then somebody says crysis is better and than someone else says its overated, if you catch my drift. I've never found a game that everyone agrees on is their best game.SCREAMIN_MANTIS
