Yoshis Island (SNES) back in 1996.
It looked and played ridiculously well. It oozed originality, had a great art direction and was addicting as hell.
It was indeed amazing.
Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. In my opinion, it's still the best game on the SNES. I like it more than Super Mario World.
This was great. The (at the time) ultra realistic graphics were unrivaled. Also Starfox was the first time I saw 3D gameplay like that on a console. On PC, though, the first time I saw Wing Commander was amazing. Also Dark Forces. Like Doom, but in the Star Wars universe! That was the ultimage nerdgasm for me.Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. Donkey Kong Country 2 did it for me. Wasnt better than YI but goddamn was it incredibly addicting and good looking.
Super Mario 64..came with the N64, played that game religiously. It blew my mind at the time :D
Halo 1 was amazing too..the co-op was just so good, if you had a friend to play with all day it was amazing fun..sadly the Halo series does not interest me anymore.
I guess... a crap ton of games on the n64 made by RARE and nintendo. But they still amaze me to this day. :P
3rd grade - Super Mario Bros
Also Super Mario Bros 3
Tekken on PS1
Super Mario 64
Oblivion
Gears of War

As kid pretty much everything amazed me, games that are horrible and so broken I couldn't get past the first level amazed me xD But overall my best memory is with Sonic 3 & Knuckles abd later (I was a teen by then) FF7
Metal Gear Solid completely blew me away with it's story and gameplay. That, Diablo, and Twisted Metal 2 were probably the biggest ones for me.
What? How old are you? Anyways the first Crash Bandicoot absolutely blew my mind since the only game system my household had before that was an Atari 2600I remember the first time i played Call of Duty 4 how amazing that was. Especially the sniper missions, but now that seems so out dated....

NFL 2K was the most realistic football every created when it was first released on the Dreamcast.
Before that though, Donkey Kong on the Colecovision shocked me, because it was the first time a console game looked exactly like the arcade version. Besides the original Mario Bros.
For Arcade Games, I'd have to say Dragon's Lair and Time Travel (holographic game). Those games were impressive for their time.
How old are you TC?
On topic: Super Mario Bros for the NES. I remember watching my older brother play it and being awe struck at all of the secrets in the levels.
Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2,Metroid, Mike Tyson's Punchout, CastleVania, Castlevania 2, World Runner, The Goonies, Top Gun, Rad Racer, Bionic Commando, Adventures of Bayou Billy, Zillion (only SEGA Master System game i was a nintendo fanboy in "86" lol). And many many many many many more during the mid "80's"..
I absolutely loved Paper Mario and Wind Waker when I was younger.
Oh, also Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia.

We are more old school. I rememeber back to The Oddysey. But i really started using codes and beating games as a kid in like "85" Ala Super Mario Bros and Contra etc lol. I had all those Nintendo power mags and remember when CES was E3 lol. Old school forever!!
a game that came out 3 years ago seems dated to you? Were you e ven around during the days of doom and Goldeneye? :P
also for me it would be Pokemon Stadium, I used to pay to play it at Wizards of the Coast, so fun was my first N64 game
donkey kong country, super mario world, metal gear solid, resident evil 2, resident evil 4, metal gear solid 3, mario 64, goldeneye, kingdom hearts, grand theft auto 3, smackdown 2:know your role, winning eleven soccer 6, final fantasy 7, final fantasy 9, silent hill, silent hill 2, silent hill 3.

Commander Keen. My jaw hit the floor, considering it was my first post C64 game (I think) apart from some obscure side scroller my father showed me at work.
I loved Commander Keen. Though, as a poor kid, could only afford the limited shareware versions.Commander Keen. My jaw hit the floor, considering it was my first post C64 game (I think) apart from some obscure side scroller my father showed me at work.

Pokemon :D Love those games.SilverChimera
oh god yeah, pokemon silver and gold are such huge nostalgia nerdgasms for me. Not sure why but I never got the same impact from red and blue as I did with gold and silver
I am a pc gamer and the 1st time I put Soul Caliber into my dreamcast I was blow away. I would always say that game is impressive for a console game but I was never amazed. I was using the vga adapter on my sony gdm-fw900 and it looked sick. Had me looking at my pc like wtf is going on here ??

I loved red and blue, but gold and silver and my favorites :D I think it's because the gameplay mechanics work much better in those two. They're just better games overall :)Please Log In to post.
