Games that are easy to learn, hard to master?

How so? Halo is easy to learn and hard to master. Fits the description pretty well if you ask me.

Demon's Souls

Ummm L4D2, no idea :P

Most RTS games. When you think you've got them, the catch you completely off-guard with some crazy (but very intelligent) tactic.

Starcraft.

You can understand the game fairly well, but to fully master the mechanics is a whole lot of practice and skill.

Basically every easy to learn game ever created. Well seriously there must be exeptions like games that stay easy no matter the difficulty, bad designed games and obviously the ones that are hard to learn, but yeah most games should be in this category.

Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta.

Pretty hard to fully master it. It takes some practicing, patience and dedication to become one with the character.

pokemon, online can be devastating if you don't know what you're doing.

You here this term all the time, but what games do you think fit this mold?

Mario Kart Wii. It's easy to win all cups and to win your first few races online. Then try entering a pro-room and it's a whole different world.

Also, quit naming Mario Kart. I don't see anybody on the Gamefaqs forum or any Youtube vides breaking down the inner secrets of Mario Kart.chaotzu

That's because there are no secrets besides racing optimally. And not a lot of people can do that. Back when MKW was just out, I was part of a clan, and I can tell you that the difference between the top and the mid-section of racers is huge, and I can pretty much guarantee you I'll beat you by 15-30 seconds on any track if you just got this game, regardless of what item you'll get.

Pokemon is another example with anyone able to beat the main story without big problems, but is once again difficult to master.

Bayonetta. Street Fighter.

I would say Blizzard games. Even more if you play online.

I think you guys are missing the point. When I mean easy to learn I mean so easy that if it's your first time playing the game you can understand the concept. Demon's Souls and RTS's don't fit that description. In fact neither do keyboard and mouse shooters like Counterstrike or class based FPS's like Team Fortress. That also does not include 3D action games. Do you really think your sister can play Devil May Cry? Also, quit naming Mario Kart. you couldn't be more wrong in regards to 3D action games (at least with bayonetta). Anyone can play the game on easy mode as you only have to hit one button (i.e. without having to hit Y B Y for a punch kick punch combo) and it does all the combos for you.
