I have a few
C&C Red Alert 2-My first RTS, it was awesome how you could control everything and all the units had cool animations. In particular I loved how tanks could run down chain link fences.
IL-2 Sturmovik-The damage, management, graphics, dynamic campaign, etc everything was top notch back in 2001, it's still one of the best flight sims in 2009.
Assass Creed-Animations and climbing.
No One Lives Forever 2-Switching ammo types, the separate armour and health bars was pretty fresh back in 02 as well.
Silent Hunter 3-With not your grandmother's mod it was a very special game, manual torpedo solutions, deck gun attacks, the excitement of hunting down and sinking the tommies , escaping attacks, and realistic sinkings.
America's Army-Launched grenades don't arm themselves after some distance, backblasts kill. I was just playing AA when I first got cod4 and it was completely stupid how short the arming distance was in cod4.
Endwar-Voice controls that actually work well! unlike Silent Hunter 3. Not that it was a particularly good RTS though.
Brothers in Arms:Road to Hill 30 & Earned in Blood-I loved the massive amounts of effort that went into making sure everything was authentic, every house, every engagement, and actually having a good story! There were also German missions so the game was not entirely "killin em evil nhatseeeezz!!!!"
Battlefield bad company-This game had nearly full terrain and building destruction, the aspect of pieces being blown off of a vehicle was also a nice touch.
Far Cry instincts-Map editor for consoles and those maps could be played online. Too bad the MP in FC2 wasn't that good.
Forza Motorsport-The car painting blew me away, you can pretty much paint pretty much anything you want in FM2 and FM3 given that you take the time.
So what are your nominations?
