Games that were awesome but didn't sell well enough for the developers/publishers to continue the franchise......
MDK. They tried. MDK 2 was a really good game with a difficult learning curve. It never sold well enough for them to keep making the MDK games. I think if they adjusted the difficulty a little bit, it couldve had more mainstream success. I wonder what the developers of this game are doing these days? MDK couldve been a serious killer app with some minor tweaks to the gameplay and a powerhouse behind the advertising.
Jak and Daxter. One of my favorite games on PS2. Seemed like the sales declined with every installment. Still sold well over 1Million+ but compared to other Ps2 games I guess that wasn't enough for them to continue on. One of those franchises where Naughty Dog never seemed to know what direction they were going with J&D. 1st one was a classic platformer, 2nd one was more of a shooter, 3rd one was more of a open world-sandbox GTA type.
Possibly...Shadow of Collosus. Critically acclaimed game that didnt sell up to it's rating. I know Team ICO is developing something new that will probably be announced at E3. If it's not SoC2 then I have little hope they will continue the franchise.
