Tell me what are games that with your current time schedule you certainly wouldn't be able to finish now?

For example, to me it's defo Skyrim which I finished when I was in a relationship but I lived with my parents and we were apart by 70km, and I temporarily haven't had job back then. It took me over 600 hours btw. Now I wouldn't ever be able to finish it with such meticulousness (the only achievement which I didn't obtain was the one for those Daedric artifacts)...

Thank God there aren't any new Bethesda RPGs on the horizon...

Not a defined finished element, but Online MP games are difficult for me. Anything that I can't pause every 5-10min to keep the house from getting burned down is difficult.

Any game where you have to sink hours upon hours into it to get the most out of it.

For me it's any Elder's Scrolls game but most recent would be Skyrim.

This seems like a stealth thread to imply some people on these forums actually have important events or obligations to attend to. That much is obvious.

well other than those without endings, i think that games that require a lot of skill/ punishing difficulty wouldnt fit my lifestyle now. im a bit older now and i lost a lot of patience to get good at a game and i seem to have lost quite a bit of reflex/dexterity. i need games that have enough challenge that im actually playing but not soo much where i get frustrated. something like assassins creed/arkham games/god of war type games are good. rpgs are okay good for me right now unless they take 15 hours to get good. its why i have yet to still opened demon/dark souls, why i havent played fallout for 5 years and why im not sure i can ever get through ninja gaiden or dmc3.

its a shame really since i love gaming and i would want to beat at least all the games i own that have an ending and i really could have when i started collecting games. i was unemployed, part time college student and wasnt in a relationship from 20-25. now my backlog is 200+ with no end in sight

If you have a lot of responsibilities wouldn't it simply just take longer to finish those long games?

I've been playing Skyrim here and there since it released and I'm still not finished with main quest or theives guild.

In case of Skyrim it wouldn't be just as fun IMO. For example when I started playing Skyrim, I've been putting 17 hours into it on a daily basis and it still hasn't felt like I've done enough in one day. YES - it felt like being addicted to crack cocaine.

Playing something in short sessions keeps me from getting burnt out on a game.

@PAL360: Ever find yourself buying games you know you'll never be able to play? I did that with Titanfall. :p I squeeze in some matches here and there but probably won't drop more than 20hrs in the long run.

If i know i'll never beat the game, then i don't buy it, at least not at full price. I even end up beating the games i don't like that much, like Assassin's Creed 4, but it takes time :p

With my schedule that's probably going to span the rest of my life, any game more than 20 hours probably won't be getting finished.

At the moment any game longer than 5 hours, and that might even be to long. Unfortunately, this prevented me from buying Dark Souls II. For the next month or so all I will be doing is going to class in the morning on weekdays, studying in the afternoon, going to work in the morning on weekends and studying in the afternoon....

No time for most of them. Dabble in them a little. I should have more time starting this week though.

This.

Dragon Age Origins took me a year to finish. I finished it in 50 hours, I play games only on the weekends and at night.

I have a list of games that I'd really, really love to play, but don't because I have no time to truly enjoy them. I mean, I have free time, but I'd love to just sit indoors for a whole weekend and play some of them. Really get into them, and figure out everything about them, or at least be able to enjoy them thoroughly without having a week or two break in between sessions.

Some of those games would be....

  • The Witcher 2
  • Stalker Call of Pripyat
  • Stalker: Clear Sky
  • Fallout series (1-New Vegas)
  • Mount and Blade Warband
  • Warcraft 3
  • Dark Souls

I've only played games for a little over an hour in the last two weeks even though I just got done with Spring Break. I just have other things I'm focusing on now, and it's not likely to change anytime soon.

For SP games, I still try to finish them, even if it means cramming in an hour before bed for a few weeks with occasional longer sessions packed in where I can (Handhelds are great for that kind of gaming BTW). However, I've largely abandoned the completionist type of gaming where I go digging for every little thing, that's just not something that I can fit into a schedule low on time and high on games.

Unfortunately, some games seem to slip through the cracks. Like Arkham Origins as an example. Wasn't at the same level of previous games in the series, but I was enjoying my playthrough. Then... Something came up with the family for long enough that I ended up playing something else next instead of returning to finish my playthrough. That stinks, but I guess there are some games that just don't hold up as well i small bites or with long pauses in between sessions.

I can finish everything except JRPGs, you really need to sink into those games to enjoy them. WRPGs can be played in hour bursts.

Pretty much nothing. I play a lot of sports games because their easy to jump into.. Any game with a long story line just isn't worth the buy for me.

I have time for any type of game, my main issue is having limited gaming time reduces the sheer number of games that I play. If I love a game, it'll get played, sometimes for months at the expense of all other games.

Any game. It would take me longer to beat FFX today for example compared to 10 years ago. 2 months today compared to a month 10 years ago.

Damn, most of them unfortunately. I just don't game like I used to. On one hand yeah, obligations, responsibilities and all that... but really I just can't veg out on games anymore. Usually when I sit down to game it's for an hour, maybe 2 hours tops. If I'm really into a game then I might put in a whole 4 hours in one day, wow!

Long gone are the days when I would put 20-40 hours into gaming some weeks. Even when I have the time, I just don't want to.

In a way it sucks because I used to love RPGs and occasionally I'd get hooked to some online game. Now I only play like 1 RPG a year and no online games at all.

My kinds of games now are the ones where I can get in there for an hour or two, have some fun and come back to it later. Then again I did go through a similar phase about 10 years ago, maybe I'll snap out of it.

Boring ones. Don't game as often as I used to anymore and have no time.

So of course I still play the boring BioShock Infinite.

The Souls games and online gaming. Dark Sous has too much of a learning curve for me to get good at because I don't have the time to get good at it. Same thing for online games. I can't compete with someone that plays all the time when I might only play once a week. That's why I don't really care about online gaming.

Life as a world travelling crime-fighting male model does limit the ol' vidyagaming time. I finish over 80% of games but I find myself skipping menial, repetitive side tasks. Getting all collectibles or shiny things or whatever and finishing absolutely every side mission in the likes of Borderlands, Final Fantasy or Far Cry, etc isn't something I can be bothered to do anymore. I've almost dropped online gaming enitrely.

I always find ways to make time for any game honestly. It may take a few days more for the longer ones compared to before, but time management is key. It helps that I currently am not in a relationship nor got a kid though haha.

If it were any game though that may take some it would probably be longer RPG's like Skyrim. I might skip a few side things to move on, but that's mostly out of boredom than wanting to keep trudging through the backlog.

Except for a few rare exceptions, I generally avoid games that take more than about 20 hours to beat because I just don't have enough time to play games longer than that and still be able to play the other games that I want to play.

For example, I would really love to play Dark Souls, but that game would probably take me about 5 months to beat if I dedicated all of my gaming time to just that one single game. I would rather use that time to play 4 or 5 other shorter games instead.

I definitely can't get sucked into mmo's again, at least seriously. Anything else should be fine...it might just take me a little longer to finish it. I also don't have time to achievement hunt like I used to.

Any game that has a way to "finish" it more than can be fit into my schedule. It might take me awhile, but I can still do it.

What I don't have time for is to actually get good at competitive games with an actual depth to the gameplay. Fighting games like King of Fighters 13(which is lovely) for instance while being my kind of game, isn't something I have the time, energy, or patience to get good at right now. Also Mobas. I want to get into Dota 2, but I usually stop myself from getting into it.

Although it has made my Master Ninja playthrough of NG2 unplayable right now, but that's also because **** Master Ninja in Ninja Gaiden 2. It's bullshit.
