Diddy Kong Racing got like a 6.7 on Gamespot, which is overly moronic given that it was the most original karting game since Super Mario Kart. Apart from that, it was polished, had loads more content than any kart game before it, allowed players to race in cars, hovercrafts, and planes, and even had an adventure mode. It's even more astonishing that they gave the clearly inferior Crash Team Racing an 8.5. Gamespot seem to be the only ones who didn't get it, though, as DKR has about 89% on Gamerankings.
A game I really adore got a 5.1 on Gamespot, namely Rampage: Total Destruction (Wii). Like with basically all other Rampage games, I can understand why they've given the low score. It's technically inferior, the gameplay is incredibly monotonous, and it lacks depth. At the same time, though, I find it highly enjoyable. The character designs are terrific, the game has a good sense of humour, and unlocking everything the game has to offer is as fun as it is tedious. It was my first Wii game along with Rayman Raving Rabbids, and I've never regretted buying it. Thus far I've spent an estimated 75 hours on this game, and I'm sure it will exceed the 100 hour mark in the following months.
I also feel that an 8.3 is way too low for Majora's Mask, seeing as it gave a lot more depth to the gameplay concepts set out by Ocarina of Time, and as such was one of the best (Zelda) games ever.
A game that wasn't rated on Gamespot but was received poorly in general was the New Play Control edition of Mario Power Tennis. I had (and have) a great time with the motion controls, and it's just one of the most addicting games on the Wii.
A 8.5 for Metroid Prime 3 is too low given that it has the best control scheme on the Wii, and is just a magnificent adventure in general. I think IGN came closer with properly rating the Metroid Prime games.
Games that got a too high rating: basically anything they've given a 10/10. Yes, that includes Ocarina of Time. It was great to see how they converted Zelda into 3D, but perfect? No way. Gamespot called it flawless. It wasn't, end of story.
I also think Halo is a bit overrated, though still a great game, but I'm not gonna start that discussion here.
