Shadows of the Damned was the funniest game I have played in a while....some of the stories that the flaming head dude reads are so damn funny
Everyone loves Portal 1 and 2 for this, I find a few of the lines in Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 funny, and Dragon Age: Origins is hilarious at moments.
But Grand Theft Auto games always will have the funniest comedic writing. Just great parodies and reflections put into seemless conversations.
Point and click used to be the king of humour. Day of the tentacle and Flight of the amazon queen et al.
There isn't enough humour in games I feel. A bit of tongue in cheek comedy would go down well. Something poking fun at the utter ridiculousness of a lot of games.
Yeah I agree. Portal 1 & 2 are great, but I think the GTA games have to be the best.Everyone loves Portal 1 and 2 for this, I find a few of the lines in Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 funny, and Dragon Age: Origins is hilarious at moments.

Old World Blues, and Portal 2 come to mind.
(And GTA: EFLC; love listening to the radio on that game)
Most Nintendo RPGs, mainly Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi and Earthbound. The most recent Pokemon games seem to be taking similar cues which is encouraging.
Can't beat GTA.
Billboards in the city,DJ's on the radio, ads on the radio,tv shows/commercials. It's just funny as fvck.
I'd also like to mention Bad Company. Game made me lol.

Indeed. It just doesn't stop. Nothing like driving around listening to some GTA talkshows.Monkey Island followed by GTA and Bad Company.
I want a Bad Company adventure game so the dialog can be front and center.
Portal 2 also had superb writing, though with so few characters it was easy to get a bit tired of each of them.

Conker's Bad Fur Day was pretty hilarious back in the day.
House of the Dead: Overkill is one of the funniest games I've played in a long time. If you like stupid, gross and immature humour you should check it out. When me and my friend played it, we were laughing all the way through.
Halo 3 had some pretty funny lines from the enemies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJUxjlXglro , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sws9r9i2v38 , and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH2puFzouG0
It is not even close....
Old World Blues for Fallout New Vegas.
Its hilarious and overall its the best writing of dialogue since Planscape Torment.

Nah, kozzy. The Sam & Max series (at least Hit The Road and a couple of the new ones) have excellent writting for what they are trying to portrey - comedy.
