I'd say FFX. Besaid Island is awesome. :D
Followed by Tales of the Abyss.

Okami, which, as far as I'm concerned, is the best looking game I've ever seen. I played this on the PS2 amongst games of this generation and was still massively impressed by the visuals.

This pretty much ends the thread.
But in terms of pure epic scale of the scenery I'd say Oblivion also deserves honorable mention.

I've just ordered Oblivion from Amazon, does it have good visuals and scenery? Not great by today's standards, but the overall feeling of vastness and epicness when walking through the scenery is just amazing.

I've just ordered Oblivion from Amazon, does it have good visuals and scenery? Best of the best.I think it's still one of the best looking games out there. It's so big.Playing it on highest settings is just mindnumbing. Also I'm surprised there's noone talking about Crysis yet in this thread. Usually hermits are attrected like fliesto the lightin threads like these to claim their "Crysis PWNS all" ownage.

Not denying Crysis is the best looking game out there. It's just sad that some people like to repeat it over and over again.
Crysis for scenery. You actually feel like you're there, especially with some of the custom maps people have made.
Gears of War 2, in the cave. Omg, so beautiful.

That can't be helped if its the answer to a question that is asked over and over again ;)
Metroid Prime 3's environments are also stunning. Some of Super Mario Galaxy's levels would also count, I believe.
ETernal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Resident Evil 5, Killzone 2, Mirror's Edge, FLOWER, FF8, Gears 2 has some pretty good scenery
Crysis. Everything else is years behind Crysis.princeofshapeirFor PC(and comparitivly), Crysis pretty much blows everything away. For my Wii, SMG is still one to the best looking games ive ever seen. Everything about it is just beautiful. 360, gears of war2, and PS3, ive got to go with FF13, if it ever comes out.
When you first see Ares fighting soldiers in the valley in the first God of War you're just like
Obviously Crysis is at the top for visuals in the environment, but if you can manage to get over how awfully broken STALKER is (I sure as hell can't), that also has probably one of the best environments ever. Also I think Mirror's Edge deserves an honorable mention.
How... Mass Effect's environments were just so terrible! Planet exploration was useless because every planet looked exactly the same except different colors of ground and sky, and even indoor environment was exactly the same except for random placement of crates. It's the one thing I didn't like about that game.Mass Effect
