Games with the best ending

Shadow of the Colossus has one of the best endings. Totally caught me by surprise. And this was back on the PS2. The little PS2 that could!

How about you, SW? What games have the best ending?

SOMA. Still gives me shivers.

Mafia 1 original easily. best story ever told in game to best ending ever made.

Halo 2 for sure. I kid, I kid. :P

I would say Bioshock. It had multiple endings and I liked all of them.

Bioshock: Infinite.

I know all the intellectuals have pointed out the many flaws and inconcistencies. But no ending has hit me as hard. I was totally blown away.

Portal 2 had a wonderful ending....do you remember where you place the final portal? Then the fun song while the credits roll.

I always liked Tomb Raider 2's fake ending.

Basically kill the big dragon, and that seems like the end of it. Typical game done final boss.

But no, it jumps back to the training mansion and the evil cult dudes are pissed.

Will you see Lara Crofts triangle boobs? No. She has 90s attitude. Fvck you.

Red dead redemption 1 was epic .

I think FFX ending was perfect.

FF14: Endwalker

Metal Gear Solid 4 hands down.

Tears of the Kingdom. Just epic.

Uncharted 4 had a great ending and really felt like a perfect conclusion to Nathan’s story.

Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations probably has my favorite ending for a game. The part where they cue the first game's OST is so memorable.

@Sushiglutton: Infinite haters can suck it. Infinite was completely mind blowing and in my opinion a superior game to the original Bioshock.

the original had a tremendous advantage that its sequels didn't have - surprise. We all knew Infinite was going to have some sort of twist. It made it that much harder to shock us and they succeeded and then some.

I honestly wished the just ended the story with The Last of Us, but then we would never get The Last of Us 2. What can I say. Now I want The Last of Us 3.

My third best ending ever would be that of Bioshock Infinite:

Any ending that allows you to skip it entirely.

Nice to see a fellow fan :). I also think it was better than the original, the ending as well as the gameplay. The gameplay was pretty fun if you played aggressively.

I love Dishonored's ending.

You can either play the game hellbent on revenge, and then people will treat you like dirt because the whole game you played as an asshole. They no longer have any love for you as you pushed everything aside for your desire.

Or you can play the game as a goody twoshoes, only take out revenge on those who deserve it or as little as possible. The game will end in a completely different way for you.

Other games I think have perfect endings are Half Life and SOMA.

Looking at that MGS4 ending scene, the music does soooooooooo much. Without it, its literally 50% worse than it is.
