Fighting games, because it takes too much time to get really good at them. I mean a lot of time...

At a high level, yes.
For casual play? Not really.
Whats wrong with a game requiring you to work to be good at it?
Want something easy? Play Marvel 3 or Mortal Kombat. They basically reward you for losing so you can turn matches around.
(And yes, I damage control anything involving Fighters. :P)
I wouldn't want to get fighting games just so I can get my *** kicked all the time. I would never spend all that time practicing and learning combo's, So I would always lose to the great players.
It wouldn't be a problem if I really loved the gameplay of traditional fighters, (then I would put some effort in it) but I generally don't care for them all that much :P
You do realize there is fun in losing when it comes to fighters, right?
You don't need to have god like execution and know how to combo from any random hit, or have amazing reaction time to enjoy a fighter.
Just playing with people is fun. I played Arcana Heart 3 against someone who hadn't played it yet and he was even using a pad and everything. Yeah I won, but he said he was still having fun.
People act like the skill requirement for fighters so damn high. Sure, maybe for higher level play. But just screwing around with friends has no requirement.
And then when you enjoy the game and have the urge to improve, you start learning more about it.
